If it was a contest of Beatles knowledge Gerhard Berger wins hands down. He really knows the band and their music inside out!

Otherwise

Senna
McNish
Berger (may have been better if he could fit in the McLaren)
Blundell
Palmer

Palmer was British F3 champ and European F2 champ. Also won the Jim Clark troph for NA engines in F1.

Mind you, Blundell won LeMans..... Palmer only ever came 2nd.

Debuted in a 3rd non-turbo Williams at Brands Hatch in 1983 although slower than Rosberg (fastest non-turbo) he was 1 second faster than other team mate Jacques Laffite (who didn't qualify with his time) and ahead of Michele Alboreto's Tyrrell who was a race winner that season.

What was it? A bit of dicking about in an Alfa Siud, a bit of Touring cars.

A few goes in the Arrows, Then Benetton. And before you know it - the old man from Maranello is on the phone.

It must have been a real buzz for a young man from the Tyrol. It probably goes some way into explaining his outlook on life.

Ok, some are in the right place at the right time, but it does take talent also!

He’s said himself he was never as committed after his Imola crash, and I dare say if he’d had a car that actually fitted him at McLaren he may have faired better against that other chap who’s name escapes me ?

Blundell also won a couple of Indycar races. Palmer didn't do much at the very highest levels.

Two that come to mind were throwing Senna's briefcase out of a helicopter and substituting Senna's passport photo with a picture of a baboon's genitalia.

Can't imagine anybody involved in F1 today having any concept of jolly japes like those

Senna and Mcnish clearly above Gerhard for me, Nishy never got the break he deserved in F1 and went on to prove himself the main man in sportscars for a decade or more

Blundell and Palmer about equal, Blundell was a brilliant test driver, as was JP, but JP achieved a lot in lower formulas and mainly drove garbage in F1 sadly, Blundell however had good drives at times and did little with them, but that lap at le Mans, ye Gods he was brave.
