Can download the report from here:

https://f1-global-fan-survey.motorsport.com/

Fan's favourite teams are:

Mclaren
Red Bull
Ferrari
Mercedes

Fan's favourite driver?

Verstappen (and allegedly not just because of the Dutch, but popular in USA and Japan too, and biggest amongst 25-34)
Norris is a close second and most popular amongst women and under 25s.
Hamilton is third, the most popular in the UK and with the 35+ age group.

On a positive note the female audience has gone from 10 to almost 19% since 2017, so that's something.

is the change in demographics due to the new Esports and pop star image of certain drivers.

I'd imagine Drive To Survive has brought a lot of more casual viewers on board. It also looks like over half of those surveyed play motorsports specific video games, so I'm sure the e-sports thing is relevant.

Verstappen and Hamilton would definitely not be popular if it were limited to Pistonheads! smile

like most surveys, questions framed around irrelevant crap, ignoring the actual problems of the sport.

Also, the idea of having more than one tyre supplier is met with the comment:
“Note: Support for the introduction of more than one tyre supplier continues to decline from 2015 (70.6%) to 55.5% in 2017. The strongest support for the change is in the 45-65+ age group.”

Yes, that will be because that age group are the only ones who remember tyre wars. The remainder of the audience are too young to even know about them, and the excitement which they engendered.
The problem with tyre wars is that tyres have such a huge influence on car performance that it becomes all about the tyres, and everything else is almost irrelevant if you're with the wrong tyre manufacturer. I'm old enough to remember more than one tyre war, and the main memory is of people always complaining that one team or another just had a massive tyre advantage.

It's one of those things like in-race refueling. When you have it most people think it's just ruining the sport, and then when you take it away after a while you have people saying how great it was and wanting to bring it back. I think F1 viewers must have very short memories and/or particularly rose-tinted glasses.

I have been following for 15+ years and this is the most optimistic I have been about the state of the sport in that time. Liberty are generally doing great things. I hope that the new regs don't flop entirely and I hope that F1 doesn't desert its heartlands.

I didn't complete the survey as they required you to agree to receiving marketing e-mails but the results do reflect my sentiments.

Lol F1 is and has been for a very long time all about tyres, with or without a tyre war, the car is designed to use them in certain conditions better than others, and you see the results, it is the same in bikes.

Actu7ally one of the few series tyres is not an issue ius WEC where it is about fuel, traffic, and BoP
