My indicators are working but faintly.
When I try the hazards everything is OK
But for normal use they are bareley visiblr on a bright day.

There are numerous little boxes just behind the nearside front wheel but these are all for ignition.
Anyone know where the indicator box thingy is on the S1, I'd rather have some idea where to look before I start disturbing what 17 year old wiring/joints

ta in advance

Bill,

IIRC my flasher unit was under the dash near the steering wheel.

Mine was connected to the steel crossbar by a cable tie.

Without checking the bible, I am not sure if this is used for both indicator and hazard or if there is a unit for each. Establishing this may assist with identifying the problem.

Sounds like a bad earth to me, check the wiring diagrams and get out multimeter.

I concur; dim lights usually suggest a bad earth.

On mine it was the chassis earthing point in the NSF wheel arch.

Right then!!

I have checked the bible and can confirm that both use the same flasher unit. And the same earth.

So I may be wrong but it seems unlikely to be a bad earth.

As the hazards work fine I would be considering the indicator stalk. I know that these were a weak point on the Fords they originated from.

It may be worth getting the multimeter out and checking the current to the bulb when using hazards/indicators. If you show less amps when using indicators this would confirm a dodgy switch.

As I am inherently lazy I would be inclined to wire a 12V feed from the battery to one of the indicators just to confirm that the earth is not the culprit.

Thanks Steve I'll check the flow to the bulbs.
I've also noticed the nearside indicators are dimmer than the offside which means trouble at the stalk
