Official 2021 Turkish Grand Prix **SPOILERS**
Discussion
Round 16 and on to Turkey. Interesting to see if Max can retake the championship lead here, it looks to be more of a Red Bull circuit. Lewis may choose to take a new engine here, as most commentators think he’ll need to at some point.
If it’s half as good as Russia, it will be a cracker. Last year was wet, so let’s hope so.

Epic race last year, that saw Lewis clinch the championship in a set of Inter tyres worn slick, and a car that should have been preserved, Le Mans style, covered in the grime of the race.

Can't see what the tyres will be - I'm guessing they'll go for the softest compounds to try and get some grip?
I know it's a week away but BBC weather predicting some rain on Saturday and clouds all Sunday, so track temps low again as they were in Russia.
Be good to see how raring to go both the top two are, after great results last time.

I understand that tyres will be the softest available, but can't find anything official from Pirelli. Will post it when I do.I know it's a week away but BBC weather predicting some rain on Saturday and clouds all Sunday, so track temps low again as they were in Russia.

It wasn't meant and such and I hope it didn't come across to you as that. To confirm I will not be donning my Karen wig and asking to see the manager
It's much appreciated that you do these threads.

They have also re surfaced the track and water tested/blasted it which should improve grip.
However it’s an largely unused surface and may not actually yield any more grip than last year.
The Pirelli’s used to be made in Turkey (now Romania) it would not surprise me if they bring a spread of tyres perhaps even with a gap by utilising the tyres that were earmarked for Singapore/Suzuka.

You're right, Pirelli did bring the hardest compounds last year, but admitted this was an error (drivers struggled on the Friday IIRC)
Yup, it sounded like nobody bothered tot tell them they resurfaced the track! https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/pirelli-learned...

As DeeSee says, there's no guarantee that the track will be any grippier than last year although the weather looks more favourable this year.
No guarantee but it seems highly likely it will be improved - last year it was hilariously low grip and they have responded and spent money to seek an improvement, which I expect will be at least partially successful. It will always be above average slippy due to limited use compared to other venues..But we'll never know for sure to what extent it's improved, because this season Pirelli will not use the hardest compounds available which will itself change the grip level to a fairly significant extent.
Chance of rain over the weekend = slim.
It might be quite nice to see a less compromised race here this season. Last time was hilarious and dramatic... But this is also a decent circuit for proper racing without needing rain or a freakishly slippery dry track to 'spice up'.
looking forward to it.
