distance to wall: 3m

viewing distance: 2.7m

desired screen size: 100 inch

budget: £1k max

type of stuff watched: movies/youtube - all streamed off my Nvidia shield

yo! the world of projectors is quite confusing so any suggestions would be super appreciated.

I have an apartment in the city with a small TV, my plan is to get a motorised projector that drops down in front of it giving me 100 glorious inches.

As you can see from the photos it's a bright apartment with white walls, I have blackout blinds (suction cup ones) which I can attach if I want complete darkness.

My intention is to get a projector that could also be used at night (ideally) to an okay standard without having to put these up, then if I wanted further quality for an occasion such as hosting guests for a fight or a weekend movie then i'd stick up the blackout blinds.

The back wall is where I intend to mount the projector as behind the couch is where the nvidia shield is as well as a power source. I will put it on a ikea lack shelf or something.

any help appreciated!

I've had an InFocus 1080p for nearly 8 years now and it's been faultless, requiring just one bulb change in that time. It cost ~ £650. In our old house I used a drop down motorised screen which at the time I thought looked good. In our new house though I went for a fixed screen and the difference was astonishing. I'm not sure a fixed screen is possible where you want it though, but I can recommend InFocus, and these guys were very helpful:

nice! there's so many 4k projectors around now of a reasonable price that I think it's worth me trying to get one of those

That's quite a bright room, so depends on how good a picture you are looking for.

I'd personally be looking at a Benq or Epson.

I've got the W2000 and it's great in the dark, acceptable with the lights on

The higher the lumens rating the better it will be in a room that's not completely dark. DB rating is also important if you're sitting close to it as you will hear the fan if it's noisy.

What sort of sources will you be using?

I'd probably go for an AV Receiver of some sort

Just an nvidia shield, I feel like an av receiver seems like overkill just to essentially perform as a splitter right ?

Something like this will do the job

https://www.amazon.co.uk/TESmart-Switch-Switcher-S...

Connect all you devices to the switch, and the switch's output goes to the projector. You can also plug your soundbar into the switch.

the thing is I only have one device (my nvidia shield) smile

I just need 3 outputs and the signals all kind of have to match (seeing as the soundbar will just be taking the audio and will have to be synced with the projector on the other side of the room)
