During covid my car didn't move from the garage for approximately 18 months. Now that it is back on the road I have noticed there is a lot of vibration coming through the steering wheel. I think standing for 18 months has left flat spots on the tyres. My question is, if I keep driving the car, are these flat spots likely to disappear or are the tyres now damaged beyond redemption? These tyres are relatively new and have probably only covered about 300 miles so I hope I don't have to write them off already. Any tyre experts out there that can offer an opinion?

Hi, my SEAC had flat spots after standing for 15 years, and like yourself I had a fair bit of vibration when I first drove the car. After a good spanking and getting the tyres very warm, the flat spots did disappear. I have now replaced the tyres with new, purely due to their age. Google also has a number of references to flat spots recovering with use and getting the tyres warm.

Agreed I used my 350i more in the winter and it stood for months at a time.

It also helps if you increase the tyre pressures (while storing but too late now) and for the warm-up drive to help push out the flat spots, and yes get them warm.
