996 C4 top mount lifespan?

What is our opinion on how long front top mounts should last? I had mine replaced by a well-known indy in early 2017, and have just had to have them re-done as I was getting popping and banging during low-speed manoeuvres. The garage showed me the old parts and the rubbers were definitely cracked.

Four years and 27,000 miles seems pretty poor to me. Am I unlucky or is this just to be expected?
