I’m not convinced it’s a maturity issue, he’s surrounded by apologists and sometimes allows himself to believe all the hype. Undoubted talent but flawed and without one iota of charisma.

racing incident according to Brundle, who is pretty sensible on such matters. Nowt to do with maturity.

One of the few occasions when Brundle has been pretty much on his own among the former drivers.

Yes, Max still has some growing up to do. The problem is those around him - Horner, Marko, and his father, all of whom think he’s doing nothing wrong and has nothing to learn.

He really needs to find himself a driver coach, a successful former driver with a more cautious approach. He won’t be a champion if he doesn’t learn to play the percentages.

(As mentioned on the other thread, Monza was Lewis’s first accident-related retirement, since he collided with Rosberg in Spain five years ago. That’s what maturity looks like in a driver).

Brundle is dying of dementia and has been for a while now.

The big giveaway was Horner claiming it was a racing incident and trying to sweep it under the rug.

yes, fair dos. Max deemed by the stewards, on balance, to be the more guilty party at Monza; Hamilton, though, deemed by the stewards, on balance, to be the more guilty party at Silverston. These are racing incidents (obviously engendering an 'its a penalty' 'no, he dived' type discussion if you support one or other driver.)

It's a function of ego though isn't it?

Neither will back down now. It's just that one has the finesse of a surgeon, the other more like a torpedo.

This is so daft, Max had nothing to lose and therefore it was his car to risk and for Lewis to avoid the accident. If Max didn't try and overtake there and then he wouldn't have seen Lewis for dust and Lewis had a race winning car on his hands. As it stands he came out of the weekend with a points increase over his rival. Seems the clever thing to do was as Toto called it, a tactical foul. Nothing to do with Maturity. I'm sure all the Mature racers like Alonso, vettel etc would have made the same move.

Is another thread really needed for people to talk about Verstappen?
