Scenario...
PH has been given a blank piece of paper & have been commissioned to reinvent F1.... from start to finish.
Open rule book... What would you propose?

We all have our own views, but thought we could put them on one
thread.

Eg:
HALO IS MANDATORY...

Engine spec, chassis, tyres etc.
Driver aids
Qualifying format
Academy drivers

Track requirements.
Technology ( To aid Stewards)
Grid size (max)
Points system...

ANYTHING ELSE YOU CAN THINK OF REALLY...

Cars narrow enough and short enough to enable overtaking at Monaco (and there by everywhere else)

Say it quietly..... but the ‘e’ races was exciting on the full circuit.
( So that’s a good start)

100kg of fuel, safety cell to current regulations, 600kg minimum weight - and after that, well it’s supposed to be a prototype series, isn’t it?

I've always thought the one should look forwards and not backwards, therefore V12 ICE's, manual gearboxes and no aerodynamics isn't an option. You can't uninvent things.

I like the move to more ground-effect aero to enable cars to follow and pass, if it works. If it does then I'm happy with the look of the cars and their ability to race.

Powertrain - hybrid is relevant and fine. I just want them to take weight and size out. The cars are too heavy and too big.

I would allocate more tyres per weekend.

Format is fine with qualifying in the 'normal' way and a race on Sunday. I wouldn't reverse grids or do sprint races.

Drivers - I would enforce that a team's reserve driver must come from the F2 grid and that driver must be used if the race driver is unable to drive.

I would also look at ways of getting more mileage for young drivers. More young driver tests or another practice session solely for drivers who haven't participated in a race.

Indeed. The sporting regulations generally work well, and the weekend format is good.

I don’t like all the crap around tyres, and see the technical regulations becoming so restrictive that the cars are 95% fixed and the teams have $100m to spend on the other 5% - which is mostly advanced aerodynamic stuff with little revalance to anything else.

Let the designers and engineers innovate, case in point being the DAS from Mercedes last season. You don’t ban stuff like that, you let everyone do it if they can.

I did mention on another thread about replacing the useless mirrors with cameras.
These could also provide another perspective for us viewers, and help stewards reach a conclusion almost instantaneously.

F1 Academy: ( Hopefully separate the ‘wheat from the chaff’)
This could be the Friday entertainment...

All drivers would have to go through the team Junior programme before entering F1.
Provision of a RESTRICTED F1 car to compete in a acadamy championship, run at the Grand Prixs.
The top two of the initial championship would then be promoted the following season to F1.
( Obviously... No manf’ points would be awarded.)

To keep the grid @ 22, the ‘rookies’ would only be able to compete for a single season at a time.
The option would be to either drop back into the Academy series or get a full seat.
It would be a Premiership / Championshipy type
scenario

All the drivers would be around the F1 circus...to learn from the experts.

F2, would remain... but more as a feeder for the Acadamy.

Hopefully this would find the true talent over money...
