Is it just me or has there been a massive increase in trapping activity lately? I've seen more in the last 2 months than I have in the previous 5 years...

They were even out tonight by the Holmbush junction - half eight on a Sunday night! Quota to make up after a quiet 2020 perhaps?

Seems to be their favourite spot this weekend then.

They were there around 12ish yesterday when we were heading to Brighton. Mrs J drove us back around 4 and I commented watch your speed, there was a camera van ahead this morning; fully expecting it to be long gone. We were both surprised it was still there.

Yes, absolutely. I’ve got Waze running the whole time now, but it still missed a manned camera van on the Bolney bridge last week. They were hiding in the bushes on the way down the A23 this afternoon. This is in addition to the static cameras covering the whole northern section of the M23.

I commute on the A27 and there’s rarely a van parked up on a weekday morning or evening but almost always on a weekend.

It must make them a heap of cash, for very little effort, as well as reducing road speed and related injuries and deaths, obviously.

I think the worst aspect is the new breed of <70mph lane 3 or 4 hoggers, like you’ve had on the M25 for years now. They don’t want to speed as they’re on 9 points, but also don’t want anyone overtaking them.

I think it’s setting us all up for autonomous electric cars. Motorway driving has become such a chore that we’ll all welcome it being removed from our duties gladly.

They got me on the A259 at Lancing a month or so ago - a heinous 36 in a 30 at 7pm (I still need to book in my Re-Education Camp visit). It lead me to investigate Waze as well, conveniently it runs nicely in Android Auto so I can have the alerts up on the display. It's proven pretty accurate so far.

At least with all the appalling driving we see daily - lane-hogging, people on phones etc - it's good to know that someone doing a few miles an hour over the limit will feel the full wrath of the law.

With 2.1 million speeding tickets issued per year, at £100 a go, that's hundreds
of millions of pounds of revenue from the motorist.

The UK Government would be fools to turn down that amount of annual revenue,
especially when they can claim some plausible link to road safety.

Actually fixing the problem, by fixing the low quality of driving, seems a whole
lot more expensive and more difficult.

Personally, I'd rather have folks doing 90-120 mph and concentrating on what
they are doing, than doing a legal 65 mph and not really engaged in what they
are doing.
