I've just been reading on the Chimaera forum about the EPS system from DC Electronics.
The steering on my Wedge (350i) is a right pain at parking speeds and this would a great addition. i know I have a few other problems to resolve but it could be a good winter project and persuade me to keep the car.
Anyway, enough of the babbling, which vehicle was my steering column set up from? 1987 RHD 350i. I believe it could be SD1 or TR7? How do I tell?
Thanks for any suggestions.

If your column looks like this it is from an SD1.

I know because I ripped what was left of a conversion to EPS out and went back to standard.

The electronics had already been removed by the dealer I bought the car from (they said it was not drive-able with it working). I suspect the mistake was to use the standard rack with EPS. Whatever setup had been installed was also very bulky meaning the steering wheel couldn't be adjusted and was touching my legs when driving. There were also numerous electrical issues as a result of trying to stuff everything up under the dash! So I ripped it out and put back to standard, meaning I have both rake and reach adjustment. Had to fix various lighting and indicator issues too.

Yes, the standard steering is heavy when parking, but is fine otherwise IMHO.

I did wonder about the motor, there isn't a lot of room under there.
