I have a Mercedes 190 on 2.6 which is lovely, aside from transmission shunt when you put it in reverse, or when you apply power suddenly. My mechanic doesn’t tackle such things. Is there a transmission specialist in the midlands who could take a look, diagnose, and fix?

Thanks in advance!

The car in question.

Driver transmissions used to have a good rep when I was in the trade, Moseley Birmingham.

Try Banbury Gearboxes. Not used them myself, but heard good things.

Thanks all, and apologies for not checking back on this thread recently (I had assumed it had vanished in the ether!)

It turns out I need a new diff for the 190. I will check with the above and see whether they can help with a rebuild. Any suggestions welcome!

I've been looking at a diff rebuild fot my e46 M3 and have been repeatedly recommended to speak to Central Axle Services. Will get around to it at some point:
