I am fairly new to this car which is a track focused ep3 that I purchased, I developed an issue whilst on track this week and wanted some advice.

Whilst at Brands I noticed that as the day went on the car was bogging down after exiting Druids hairpin, the car would momentarily lose power one, two or three times. It then happened on other parts of the track but Druids was the worst and the most consistent.

It had been down as low as 1/4 tank just before lunch, we decided to fill it to the brim and try again, but with no joy.

I had a go pro recording at the time and have time stamped the events

3:18, 4:20, 5:28, 6:53 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSjSqGYAzhs&li...

Last run with a full tank: time = 1:58 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMwwUn8LLGk&li...

Relevant info:
track temperature ~ 28 degrees
2003 ep3
Hondata Kpro - I am trying to connect to it to see if it has any codes stored. According to hondata iPhone app it has no codes but I am still trying via a windows laptop to connect.
Uprated air intake - cone variety located towards the back of the engine bay (this is on the list to change)
Uprated radiator (seems to work well according to the dash thermostat)

I would appreciate some ideas as too where to look as I have another track day booked for the end of this month. My own thoughts were to check and possibly change the fuel filter and pump, earth strap from the fuel rail and to pull the codes and see if anything stands out.

ps go easy on the comments re my driving skills ;-)

Low oil pressure would stop VTEC operating and cause this issue, has it a sump baffle? do you always run it a couple of mm over full on the dip stick?

I'd be very surprised if it was fuel related with what you've mentioned.

And you would expect a misfire issue to be prevalent in both high and low G situations.

P.S always two hands on the wheel tongue out

I have not had the sump off and we purchased the car already converted. It looks original from what I can see but I cannot tell if it has been modified inside. I did get some feedback that said if it is a right hand track and you have overfilled it you do not need a sump baffle on a EP3. I think I will go belt and braces and fit one this winter regardless.

Thanks for your thoughts on the oil front, this seems to be a recurring theme, the more people I speak to about this issue. I am now going to add an extra 1/2 litre to it before we head to Snetterton at the end of this month.

I have also ordered up a fuel filter and gauze and will replace it this week, it may not be the cause of the issue but the car has done over 150K and looking at the fuel tank hatch it has never been touched.

Thanks for going easy on my driving style ;-)

Maybe your TPS is failing. Change it for an Acuity one and have it calibrated.

I had a Tegiwa one. It lasted 1000 road miles and two Trackdays. Car kept losing power and eventually cutting out all the time.

Thanks for the advice, if the extra oil and the new petrol filter does not fix it, I will swap the TPS thumbup
