Went out to my local bike club meeting at the weekend.

I’ve been a member for almost a year and not been able to make a single meeting in the week due to work commitments.

Amazingly I was one of the youngest riders there!

I chatted to a great old chap on his Honda Goldwing about why we both love our DCT gearboxes so much. He was 82!

They had a concourse competition, which was rightly won by some lovely vintage machine, each category even had a winners cup.

You’re not kidding! I was only thinking this the other week.

Where ARE all the young, daft kids? And why aren’t they riding bikes?

I guess they’re all driving white PCP’d 0.9 litre fiestas. frown

You are right, car ownership and licensing is much easier than having a motorcycle, I know hardly anyone younger than 40 who rides on the road, most are at least 50 or above, I reckon there will be very few people left riding bikes in 20 years time.

I think I have known less than 5 people younger than me that ride bikes. I think all my mates that ride have been older than me ever since I started in 2009.

I went for a spin up Box Hill on the weekend - carpark rammed with bikes & not a single teenager to be spotted!!!!
Will the bike industry just die out in this country in a couple of years???

Haha not quite but times change I guess, I was a young 30 year old when I signed up on here and knew loads of people who rode bikes, we are all now approaching or are over 50 and a lot of folk have moved onto other things, Sas Tom is the youngest I know now smile

The ludicrous licence laws have had the desired effect.

The youth don’t seem to be into bikes like we all were when we were teenagers!

Found some time to give the bikes a wash, I hadn't done it for a while.

And took my son out for a ride in the forest. He turned 15, and wants a street bike now. Gotta start 'em young!

And from the previous thread, Paddy1970:

"Wow, amazing....location?"

It's southern Ontario. There is an old quarry and forest right near my house. A good area to learn some new skills.

500 has sat for a few weeks so needed a good run out, fired up after a couple of kicks, apart from my spuds getting cooked, it was a fab ride, she tonks along very nicely indeed...

The Speed Triple has sat for 2 days and now has 3 warnings on the dash , service overdue(its not), engine check light and transmission fault...

I noticed the brake discs are rusty over the weekend and the dealer is replacing them under warranty.

Lots of owners reporting many & common build related problems with these on the Facebook page now...I think the RDs will be on the road long after the Triumph has met its maker.

Good memory, I have a pic as you describe somewhere I took of my bike and the magazine cover plus others framed and on the garage wall.
