Funktion One was started by a guy who was ex Turbosound, who are still around but were one of the really major early speaker manufacturers for large sound systems (think festivals not houses). Turbosound were particularly famous for their Floodlight and Flashlight systems in the late 70s and 80s.
Funktion One has more of a club oriented theme and usually some very funky purple paint too. They are well thought of boxes but you wouldn’t go putting them in a domestic property. If you want to see how wild they can get check out the Dance Stack

Club nights and events my mates organise always boast about having Funktion One system's, and to be fair they do sound bloody good.
Especially when they've been set up in awkward spaces or outside. Whilst you might not notice it when you're there, it's when you go to a different event and you realise how good other places have been!

Can be very very good IF someone knows what they are doing and it is set up correctly, but slinging a couple of boxes up and then having 'funktion one system' on the flyer as a selling point isn't all it is cracked up to be.
I have a lot of experience with F1 and have been lucky enough with one offs and prototype stuff too. It is certainly up there.
If it is a factory supported install, get used to having a setting (everything off basically) for when Tony comes to have a look round from time to time and plays his usual test tracks

These were them. There were a few of these dotted about and a large sub. What sort of price are those speakers?F55. iirc around £700 each (not powered, so you need the amp obviously)
Only twin 5" drivers - you aren't even getting down to 150hz with them, so they are used predominantly as fill around, on balconys and bar areas for example, rather than on dance floors.

Great kit, Designed by Tony Andrews and its designed to be Flat in response and not need a system EQ like 99% of other brands of bigger systems.
Designed to be. In practice...... If it is a factory supported install, get used to having a setting (everything off basically) for when Tony comes to have a look round from time to time and plays his usual test tracks

This kit sounds mind-blowingly amazing. First came across a Funktion One set up at a club called Cielo in NYC and never seen one since.
However the club system comprised more than just the speakers pictured - More like components of the dance stack system in the post above but in component form, coupled with the pictured speakers, set up around the floor for optimum sound.
Would love to hear a properly tuned set-up again! If anyone knows anywhere in London or the UK, then I'm there- Otherwise it's off to Berlin!

It was the first F1 in the US, and was effectively used as the demo system over here with full factory support and some prototype stuff. But as with anything, the room made a huge difference, and that room was treated extremely well, even with such a small capacity. I'm glad you got to hear it - it was special.
E1 in London has a full system including the exceptional BR132 32" subs.
