I have been replacing all damaged plugs that look like injector plugs
There are 8 for the injectors, 1 for the cold start injector which wasn't damaged and is blue
Two that attach at the front right of the engine, one is brown which I assume plugs to the connector with the brown base (though seems to have wrong coloured wiring) and another attaches to the right of this, which leaves another which for the life of me I cannot see where it is meant to go?
Any ideas would be welcome

Hello

It sounds like the auxiliary air valve, which as at the front of the engine (off-side) and is slightly awkward to get at (how unusual!). The distributor's ignition amp takes a similar plug, but obviously the wiring goes back to the coil.

Hi John

That's great thanks - found it

Is the auxiliary air valve the same as the extra air valve or are they two separate valves?

The wiring in the spare plug I have is WR and PU (blue) which doesn't correspond to the extra air valve

Hi Phil

Sorry - senior moment. Was thinking of a Capri. No, it is the extra air valve (just one!). I can't see the colours on mine since they are all taped in black protective tape. According to Honest John's diagrams (search for Vintage Model Airplane on the web) the two cables are RU (red with blue) and WP (white and purple). Unfortunately Ramon died recently but the work he put together is still available, I believe. Truly invaluable.

Just had another look at his wiring diagram. Your colours match the cold start injector. What colours have you on the one you have placed on the injector?

Just realised looking again at diagrams
Front right of engine the sensor with brown base is the Thermotime switch and as such has the exact same wire colouring as the cold start injector.
Next to that is the coolant temperature sensor - everything makes sense now

Thanks for your help

Yes the thermotime switch is connected directly to the cold start injector so that makes sense. Where did you buy the new injector type connectors from? A few of mine are looking tatty. Cheers

Thanks for all your help

Got the injector plugs for a company called 3waycomponents

Pre wired so cut and soldered them in - seem reasonable quality, plus although their website shows the plug in black, asked to have them supplied, wired in grey plug to match the others
