Hi guys (I'm posting alot today, huh?!),

I'm not overly keen on the plastic trim bits dotted around the exterior of my car (for example the slats on top of the engine, the bits around the rear lights, and the plastic vents on top of the radiator at the front.

I just wondered what (if anything) others had done to change these bits? I was thinking maybe black mesh type stuff - similar to what they have on the S2 Exige, however, I would be able to get the front bit from Lotus, but not the back bit (as the engine covers are different).

I considered getting it all body-colour-painted (professionaly) but think it would be over kill on the black paint and not look right!

So, my next thought, can I do it myself? (don't mind doing it). Maybe B&Q for the wire, size it, spray it, fit it?

Appreciate your thoughts guys.....

the guys in the US have developed a kit for the fed Elise. None available here at present. Tigga did design a kit and do his own S2..but the cost for low volume production meant that a complete kit would be about £500 to do all the vents on the car.

Having them resprayed is an option (like the 135R)..but this is expensive too - I had a quote of just under £500 to do it as some of the grilles are real difficult to get off without breaking.

Theres one guy on SELOC whos done his own, using mesh...but it took him days to get it right...you could have a go if you are a bit handy at stuff like that

oh heck, thanks for the reply, but I didn't realise it would be that much of a problem!? (admittedly I've not properly looked in to it).

I think the spraying-one-colour would be a bit much on the black car, so was looking to go 'another way'.

Which grills in particular are the difficult ones to get off? I assume the ones over the engine are easy so is it the side pods and the front radiator vents?

Thanks again

I have a black car and though colour matching would be good

I think the worst ones are the engine bay and those 2 little ones near the rear lights - the rest are easier...the problem is with the preparation to get the paint to stick...theyd need hours or rubbing down...the bodyshop suggested I buy new ones - would be cheaper than paying the labour

Bogie, what have you done for the rear diffuser on your car (just looked at your webshots bit). Is it black powder coated? That's next on my list

its an aftermarket rear diffuser - originally from Tigga, but you can get the Alvan Motors one from Sinclaires (they are the UK importer) - its painted in body colour...as are the Alvan front splitters and Reverie carbon fibre side pods

Busy day Tony

GJOB the cr@p out of it mate. Alcantara everywhere inside and body-match the slats. Then get some neons for the underneath, a -off subwoofer for the boot, a Nismo picnic-bench spoiler and blue w@nker lights for every orifice in the front and back (including down in the exhaust pipes... yes I've seen this done on a Corsa )!

actually, it's weird you mention those other things, i was literally just constructing a 'how to get "Pimp My Ride UK" to do my car?' thread!

(i'd like to point out I actually wasn't, and do consider myself a modicum of taste if nothing else!)

CF body parts do a small chin spoiler for $2500. Reverie do a full carbon splitter for $199.

Someone is having a giggle with those prices!
