Bad luck????

Murph was ROBBBED, ROBBED I saw. It was those dirty ozzies, couldnt handle the thought of a Kiwi winning it so gave him a totally ridiculos penalty.
I mean 5 min stop and go for a fuel spill in pit lane
yeah 5 MINUTES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has anyone ever seen a penalty like this before?

5 MIN!!!!!!!

I HATE AUSTRALIANS

Owen,

Murph blew it by driving off with the fuel hose STILL ATTACHED to the car....DOH!!!!

If they hadn't have doused the fuel as quick as they did there would have been some serious trouble caused by this stupidity!!

Murph and Lowndes have already won this race together so there goes ya argument

I think ya still sore over the rugby dude (both codes)

And strangely enough Jim Richards (Kiwi) partnered Skaife and JR has won this race 7 times!

It's one scary track though, I drove around it at legal speeds some years ago and to think of the speeds these guys do is unbelievable in POS Holdens and Fords tarted up with heaps of grunt and Brembo brakes (six pots from the looks of it!!).

Sh1t, the brakes are worth more than one of these cars off the showroom floor and morons think they are supporting a GM or Ford product,,,you are joking!

308GT4.... not true.... i mean what sort of moron governing body gives a 5 MINUTE penalty?!?!?!? I mean a 10-sec stop go.... maybe..... 30 sec stop-go..... POSSIBLY but 5 MINUTES?, they may as well have just kicked him right out of the race!!! It was just a mistake.... you ACCIDENTALLY hit someone on the track (something that can easily turn messy)... you get a drive thru, not a 5 minute... I think AVESCO after seeing howeasily they dominated the Queens500 before mechanical failure put them out and saw how they easily had the paciest car out there (murph still got the 5 fastest laps of the race) and decided to spice things up a bit by putting him out of the race... I'd like to meet the dork that plucked the 5 minute penalty out of nowhere.... just so that I could ask him what the hell he's been smoking and where I can obtain some!
I know Murph personally and knowing how dedicated he is to have this happen must be crushing, If I was him I'd have gone WAY more over the top than he did..... AVESCO stinks that's all there is to say.

Hear hear!(sp???) Now 5 minutes was just plain nasty! I wouldve thought 2 mins, at the absoulte MAXIMUM. A 30sec stop go seems about right. But 5 MINUTES! In a 6hr race where 1st to 15th are barely 1 lap apart when its more than half finished! That was a direct shot at Murph, it wasnt his fault the jacks were let down early. Although, there is no practical way to punish a pit crew without affecting the driver... what a dilemma. Ol' greg was seriously pissed, im surprised he didnt break the portapotty door Too many of the top drivers were put out of the running, and practically dq'ing a VERY likely podium placer was bound to cause this outrage. What were they thinking?!?! Damn officials, musta been tearing their hair out over this decision.
ah well, as they say... "THATS RACIN', SON"

Well Esprit I didn't say the penalty wasn't harsh but I did say Murph caused the penalty. The safety car ruined the race for many racers as I can never see the point of building up a good lead only to have it cut OR ruined by the safety car picking up the wrong "lead" car!!!!!
This has happened several times now but at Bathurst with over 2 min lap times this is cruel.

I think I prefer the older days (pre-AVESCO) when we had many different makesand had many different drivers from around the world but I think Skyline scared them off as it is fairly dangerous.

5 mins for a penalty was a bit rich and I think you should write to the CotCourse and ask what his reason is for this (I think it was Tim Schenken or Colin Bond)

I don't think AVESCO wanted Skaife to win it as he has won everything else and this would just pi55 more people off.

Has anyone a video tape of this I could borrow????

Channel 5 showed it early Tuesday morning instead of the Argentinian Footie so missed it! Channel 5 is the worst at reprogramming at the last minute. Usually its motors get dropped in favour of any fottie or baseball.

Oops, my post relates to Bathurst this year 2003. Anyway, probably the comment on tv coverage did apply to Channel 5 last year as well.

I still need video of this year 2003. Anyone who had comments last year possibly watched this year but then again reading some comments they probably didn't.
