I have owned a Red Rose 2001 Tuscan Mk1 for four years, following two Chimaera’s. My wife who is also a TVR fanatic is suffering from periodic back pain, and the harder suspension of the car is quite uncomfortable for her. Wanting to remain in the TVR community, I wanted to check out thoughts re a TVR with slightly softer/more compliant suspension if such a model exists. Looking at the Tamora. Would appreciate views. Thank you

I think the Tamora is basically the same chassis as yours... I found my Chim significantly more "comfy", but more of an old-school cruiser feel... also depends on seats and suspension mods, I suppose? As for looks, Grif same chassis as Chim.

Just get some proper advice and change your suspension units. There are so many out there that claim they are brilliant and ride as hard as nails.

You need to spend some money, £1000 only buys you average suspension.

Saying that, if you are not tracking it and maybe just a standard set of Pro-Techs with a soft set of springs will do the trick.

16inch spiders are a good call but make sure you can get them over the front discs .. being a red rose you might have the larger discs requiring at least a 17 inch wheel.

I did a set of protechs last year for someone in a similar position to yourself .. double adjustables with soft springs, different bump stops, a bespoke top eye machined for a very large rubber bush .. the ride was lovely (for a sports car with limited wheel travel and ground clearance anyway! .. you can't escape the physical limitations of the car design easily)

Just to say I had 16"s on my first Tuscan, an early 2000 model.
It didn't look so good to my eyes.

Ride comfort level was fine and used to commute to Germany in it.
Changed to 18"s with new shocks, geo setup. Didn't experience a reduction in ride comfort, in fact my wife said it was better.
