Does the fuel gauge reading rise as well? If so it might be a problem with your voltage stabiliser.
I'm pretty sure that both your fuel & temp gauges are supplied by a stabiliser then the fuel gauge earths through the sender unit and your temp gauge earths through the engine sender unit.
Good luck!

It would be worth checking but any voltage variations from charging should be mitigated by the voltage stabiliser anyway, hence any problem with either should manifest on the fuel gauge as well.
I haven't actually got a wiring diagram for a Wedge but I'm pretty sure that it will be wired that way - maybe one of your fellow Wedgies could confirm that this is correct.
As suggested just check/clean any connectors and do a bit of wiggling and check your on-load alternator output voltage for peace of mind!

If you also see the needle wiggle with the indicators - deffo the earth.
The system earth reference point is a bolt on the read of the block there are a couple of earth straps there.
I added an extra one from there to under the dash to beef up the earthing as sometimes it earths through the bonnet release cable, which corrodes over time.
