Congratulations to Esteban Ocon on his first win in F1, with Fernando Alonso being a pretty handy wingman too..
Nice one Alpine...! smile

Took his opportunity a drove a great race.

Deserves the win.

Helped no doubt by the on the limit defending by his team mate. Both did well.

Sure Max was delighted to see his old friend up there on the podium.

Deserves his own thread.

Every year or two we get that crazy race where the usual suspects get taken out and someone unusual wins. For example, last year when Gasly won. Gasly is doing a great job in that Alpha Tauri every race, usually qualifying best of the rest and getting points. Consistently outperforming his team mate.
Ocon got very lucky in Hungary and played the cards he got dealt very well. He deserved to win the race. But in my opinion he had done nothing up till now that screamed "I'm going to win a race at some point" I wouldn't be surprised if this is his career highpoint.
Well done to Alonso, and also Latifi drove a good race. Russell is by far the better prospect, but in this race alone, he did really well. I'm over the moon to see Williams get points again.

He just used up all his skill in T11 didn't he?

He sort of deserves one after Bottas robbed him last year.

It's the kind of track where anything could happen. Anyone can end up in the barriers at any point. Honda's power unit has had some reliability concerns. Being best of the rest might be all you need to get a podium.

Bit of a shame the stoppage eliminated his buffer as there possibly would have been a better battle with Max , though I’m sure Max would have got past anyway. Good result though , I’m pleased for him .

Yep shame about the last safety car as he had a decent gap to Max (surprisingly) and would of been good to see if he could maintain it.

Well done indeed to Mr Ocon. And with good things evolving at Hass, he might justifiably be thinking ‘things are on the up’.

Looked like him and Max were getting along pretty well in the cooldown room too. Nice to see after previous incidents they've had - especially given that it was at Brazil again

OCON deserved to be DOTD! That Alpine is way inferior than Red Bull car.

Too bad he is reckless in most races!

Definitely deserved DOTD, drove pretty much a perfect race when most others were on grass cutting duty. A bit disappointing to get mugged by Max for the lead, but Max seemed to have incredible grip in turn one, plus I wonder if the team had emphasised how valuable any podium finish would be, and not to take risks?
