992 First service due - any advice/recommendations
Discussion
Hi All,
My 992 C2S is due for it's first service in September. This is my first Porsche so has anyone got any recommendations for a dealer to go to?
The obvious OPC is in London (not North, East or South!) but when I spoke to them about buying a new car they seemed to think they were doing me a favour even allowing me to walk into their OPC, I then visited Hatfield and they weren't much better. I finally ordered the car from Silverstone who were excellent.
I live in South Bucks but happy to travel a reasonable distance for decent service/price. I go to Sheffield fairly frequently so could co-ordinate the service with a visit there if anyone has got any experience of OPC Sheffield ?
Also any ideas on what this is likely to cost these days? Any any things to watch out for? Any tactics the dealer uses to persuade me to separate with more money??!!
Any info much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.......

Porsche Nottingham charge £750 for the first service including oil, filters and brake fluid change. Takes about 4 hours. That is 19,000 miles on my car. That has covered about 2 years.
Interestingly, 3 years servicing on my 999cc Dacia Duster costs £700 with annual oil changes.
So man maths says 2 years on the Duster £466, 2 Years on the Porsche £750.
Who says 911s cost a lot to run!
If you factor in the (lack of) depreciation, the 911 is the cheapest car I have ever owned. Beats my old Teslas by miles and miles!
The Dacia is also fantastic too, just saying.

I've used OPC's, Nottingham, Sheffield and Leicester.
when it comes to servicing or mot's I've never had a bad experience with Nottingham, that's not to say that the others aren't also good but on the whole I preferred Nottingham
and if it matters to you at all, the courtesy cars have always been Porsche's from Nottingham whereas Leicester sent me away with an Audi.

Nothing disappoints me more than being given a lesser courtesy car than I drove in with. Basic Cayman/Cayenne or something is fine, but for the love of god don’t send me away in an Audi. I thing wrong with them but it just ruins the whole experience, IMO.le_gazman said:

You’re taking a vehicle in for a service and by accepting a loan car it’s keeping you mobile till you go and collect your own car , can someone point out the hardship with this because clearly I’m missing the point.“ Ruins the whole experience “ , never read anything so daft for ages.
Get a grip.

but for me one of the benefits of using an OPC is It generally means I often get to drive different Porches from my own while also being able to compare and consider whether I would like to perhaps own one in the future.
The Audi loaned to me by OPC Leicester was a brand new A6 allroad with all the bells and whistles, so hardly a poverty spec runaround, but I have no interest in owning one so given the choice I'd always prefer a Porsche.
I think with most everyday cars you wouldn't give it much thought,
I know when I take my wife's Tiguan in for a service and ask for a courtesy car I really don't care what I get, it's just a car to get me home and back.
but I think with any high end car many people would like the service they receive to reflect the prices they pay and getting given the keys to something they would consider less desirable might make them feel a little short changed.
It wouldn't put me off using an OPC, but if I'm paying the same price and one's going to hand me the keys to a Porsche for the day but the other is going send me away in a VW Golf then they'd better be making up for it somewhere else to make me to want to choose them.

You feeling ok, sweetheart? Do you need a lie down?“ Ruins the whole experience “ , never read anything so daft for ages.

More often than not I take a car to a dealer because something has gone wrong and the manufacturer needs to fix it under warranty. I’m giving them my car to fix and I want to drive a similar out again while it’s having the work done.
Porsche Glasgow are great at this and have only ever given me a Porsche as a courtesy car. Quite often it’s a model I haven’t driven before or may not have thought to test drive, so it’s really good fun to try different Porsche models out.
Lotus ownership experience didn’t feel quite so special on the other hand. Scotland’s only dealer in Edinburgh would rather not give me a courtesy car at all, and if they did it was usually a Suzuki Swift. Ruined the experience.
OPC Tewkesbury are charging me £850incl. VAT for my 1st, also C2S, beginning of Sept. Declined the air on service, no need with only 4K miles. Could have got it a bit cheaper but would have the hassle of Birmingham or Bristol and can’t be arsed.
Will they be any good? Will I get a ‘crappy Audi’ courtesy car? No idea. Fingers crossed, a Taycan Turbo S
It is in for two days as a couple of recalls and updates to do (foc).

Get my Aston collected and gets dropped off when done , that’s the way to get a car serviced.but for me one of the benefits of using an OPC is It generally means I often get to drive different Porches from my own while also being able to compare and consider whether I would like to perhaps own one in the future.

Stops any anxiety about the courtesy car roulette…..

Mine has done 4250 miles and is 14 months old. My OPC said no service needed until 2 years or 20,000 miles. Are you having yours done anyway or is it 2 years old?
