From RS4 to 911 GTS
Discussion
So....I’ve owned my RS4 (B9) for 18 months and found it to be a brilliantly capable and surprisingly exciting drive. I had originally intended to keep it for about 18 months (with a plan to try out a few different cars over a 5-10 year period), so have been eyeing up the 911 GTS.
But...I can’t quite find the courage to sell off a much loved car for the sake of nothing more than experimentation!
I’d really welcome some guidance. Is the GTS worth it (I’m going to have to add in another £30k) and, if so, am I right to head to a 2016 car - because it’s naturally aspirated?
Many thanks in advance for your thoughts!

I own a B9 RS4 and found the 992 remarkably bland as a road car. It wasn't a GTS, just a Carrera S I think, and despite always wanting a 911, it put me off completely.
Obviously you should drive one and see what you think yourself - opinions being like a
holes and all that!
I'd be interested if your experience matches mine.
ETA: The older ones might be better. I didn't read your post properly and missed the 2016 bit...

I’ve just chopped in an RS4 after just 8 months ownership. Nothing wrong with it, very capable as you say. And if I didn’t have a Taycan CT incoming, it would have stayed. However, I’ve also had a 991.2 C4 GTS, and you can’t compare the two really. For me the 911 was better in every respect in terms of driving, and not just a little better. If you’re only interested in going fast in a straight line, then I suppose the RS4 gets a look in. But I’d take a 911 all day long if you don’t need the practicality of the RS4.

Thanks, that’s interesting - I’ve driven a couple of 992s at the Porsche Experience Centre and came away thinking that’s it’s very capable but not particularly exciting. Bland, as you say. Nothing additive to the RS4.Obviously you should drive one and see what you think yourself - opinions being like a

I’ll push on with the search and come back with some findings!
Thx.

Aha! That’s great intel - thanks. And what I had hoped would be the case. I guess I should get on a couple of test drives and see for myself. And I don’t need too much practicality - just squeezing a (large) 9 year old in the back whenever both Sons are up for a trundle eg off to Goodwood. Then I’m in the realm of 4WD vs 2; PDK vs manual etc. Hardly the worst issue, I guess, in the grand scheme of things. Assume you wanted the extra traction in the wet?Congratulations on the Taycan CT - looks fab. Enjoy!
