Dear lazy car dealers,

Here are 2 pictures of the back seat of the 2nd generation Audi A8 (02-09). The first one is not LWB:

This one is LWB - difference is pretty obvious:

If it's still beyond you, here's a tip. Stand at the back of the car (that’s the end with the big red tail-lights). Find the big chrome badge which says "A8". If there is a large suffixed "L", then, take a bow mate, you've ascertained that it is indeed a LWB A8 ...

Why the rant? I'm considering buying a LWB A8. Half the cars on sale are described as "LWB", even when they're not. It's a long car, but just because it's longer than an A4, that doesn't mean it's an LWB.

Doesn’t inspire much confidence in anything else the seller might say if he can't even get that much right.

This is an esoteric, niche thread. However, it illustrates a useful lesson for many of us on here: if you know more about the spec of a potential purchase than the dealer, then you can gain the upper hand.Clearly, this is more likely to apply to unusual cars, as opposed to Fiestas, for example.Research on line, trawling through acres of mediocrity on Autotrader type sites ( often soul destroying - just look at some of the car lots ) can land you in trade slang, ‘a peach’.
