I need something that can handle a gentle track day.

What’s recommended?

I did ask this question on the 1M FB group but I guess they’re all polishers on there.

Take a look on M3 cutters - 1M uses the same pads as E90/92 M3 and there’s plenty of trackdayers on there.
I tried PFC Z-rated on 1M and wasn’t impressed - woolly feel, no better than stock even on road.
Briefly had DS2500 in M3 which were better

My go to pad for the Z4MC is the Pagid RS29/RSL29.

Not cheap by any means, but work from cold on the road, and up to stupid temps on track.

Bit dusty though - although you have said you're not a polisher, you might have to start doing some wink

Run DS2500's on my Mrs' M135i which does everything from normal commuting to very hard road use and the occasional track stint. Worked very well and a lot better than the normal brakes (likely low quality) which were fading/juddering on more spirited road drives

You could try other pads, but I don't know how they'll fare on track. Especially if your 'light use' turns into something more.
Top of the tree is the Pagid RS19, I used it front & rear on my 1M, along with Castrol SRF brake fluid. A fantastic combination that will let you hook around all day, and you can run them on the road without issue.
Bed them in as per instructions & if the squeal, complete a few high speeds stops. They are expensive, but worth it.

Buy cheap, buy twice. RS29s with decent fluid and you'll not need to worry about brakes, they're brilliant.

DS2500s fell apart on track for me.

Not surprised as they're not remotely trying to compete with the 29s.

The 29s are superb but at half the price, the DS1.11s are surprisingly close IME and might work for the OP's needs, if they make them for the caliper...

Pagid RS series pads are brilliant… but they often squeal a lot when used on the road.

I like the feel of RS29s on the road (a tiny bit of a delay as they heat up and then amazing stopping power, you only really notice it coming off a motorway) but would be cautious on a predominantly road car.
