Hi all. Looking to buy an SRT-10 soon Ram rather than Viper (sorry!)
Assuming they use mostly the same drivetrain components? Are there any common issues I should look for when viewing?
I’ve seen an American forum mention checking all the gears go in well and especially reverse as that can sometimes pop out but other than that nothing was mentioned.
Thought I had better check with the PH hive mind.
Thanks

I know a few have owned them in the UK, but generally I'd ask in the US for answers

Maybe worth joining and asking here https://www.srt10forum.com/

The srt 10 ram is outstanding
I have had two
Still have one

You looking at the quad cab, or single
If quad you will need to address the auto box if it hasn't been done

Single being a manual is bullet proof

Thanks guys.

That is good to hear, it is an 04 single cab I’m after.

Just to update. Found one smile

44k miles, just about all original except the bed cover means the original wing is missing, and has silencers removed.

Probably best moving this thread into Yanks section rather than Vipers. Have to say I know nothing about these trucks except that they are 2 wheel drive rather than 4 wheel.

There ya go

I’m in Wiltshire so I expect the closest this will get to the Midlands will be a trip up to Caffeine & Machine.

Mods wise I’ll be getting the wheels refurbed as the chrome is rotting a bit, can’t decide if I want to go normal alloy silver or anthracite on the colour.
I’ll be getting a OEM replica wing to go on the bed cover.
Probably an induction kit, sounded great on my old ram and that was only a 5.7.
I might actually put a silencer back in the exhaust, I’m not afraid of loud cars, having just come from a Cerbera but this thing LOUD!
Then just a bit of preventative maintenance in the form of an underbody clean up and rust proofing.

Cheers biggrin

I reckon that engine bay is bigger than my garage

It’s when you consider the sheer size of the engine you get a sense of the scale of the truck. There is plenty of room left in there!

Great stuff
I did mine dark grey, but have now stealthed the truck, blacked all the badges, so will do same with my wheels
The Volant CAI is really good
Know what you mean about the volume, mine has long tube headers, and high flow cats so it's loud, plus the blower

Sounds good. Have you got a readers rides thread on it?
I was quite tempted by a charged one last year. It was pretty good spec but a little pricey at the time and had a RHD conversion so lacked a few of the original bits I like and people said to avoid it because if things break you don’t necessarily know what they might have been borrowed from.

Hi will , I own that truck
The only different part is the steering rack which is from a Cherokee Jeep
Funnily enough I got it a little under the asking price
I have had 3 people offer me 2 k more than I paid given it had the blower, headers, meth etc. They wanted it most as it's RHD

Ah cool. It is a nice one.
It definitely wasn’t bad value considering the cost of the mods, just a bit more than I wanted to pay for one.
That is good it is only the steering rack that is from something else and easily sourced.
Can only imagine how hilarious is it with 700+bhp.
What is the fuel economy like?

Sometimes...

for example, he is propping up the UK economy with his fuel bill hehe

Just curious because I know how bad mine is on a standard one.

Presumably not as bad as a Calvo Viper. Been watching videos of those lately and one with a 9l stroked engine apparently does gallons to the mile at full chat!

Fuel economy is woeful
I used to have a quad, and that was bad with the auto, it's probably about the same
8.3 with a 3.3 litre Whipple that is lots of displacement!

On the motorway in 6th at 80 mph I can get 16mpg!!
It's a weapon though, bunny hops at 100mph

The money dropped on it by previous owner is obsene, the blower alone is $12,000 dollars, he paid 4k for the custom long tube headers!

16 is good. I wasn’t expecting that. Even my old 5.7 quad used to struggle with that.
You are going to make me regret not buying it!
