I’m thinking of changing my M2 comp auto to a manual. What are peoples view on the current prices of the manuals?

They’re priced high and only a few for sale on autotrader, personally I think prices are going to go up but would be keen to hear others thoughts as I know the used car market is a bit crazy right now.

A crystal ball I do not have, but I'll throw my 2p into the ring.

M2C manual prices are likely to stay close to where they are for a while, without much movement in either direction. There will be some seasonal fluctuation, read a dip over winter, and the current semiconductor supply issues will be fixed at some point which should in turn hurt values come next year. However, there aren't a huge number of manuals, ~400 in total, so the limited supply may keep them higher for longer than you may anticipate. The gearbox options offered for the replacement model will have a majority say in whether the prices stay high or trail off like everything else does after a few years.

In short, if I were you, I would buy now and enjoy the experience rather than waiting it out.

I'd agree with this ^^

There's no reason the values will tank in another 12-18 months once production shortages are resolved, as a manual M2C will still be very desirable. If you can afford to swap, do it.

I’d also agree with this. Used car prices in general and M2’s in particular (regardless of gearbox) are very high ATM therefore the cost of change shouldn’t be especially high (and dealers seem to be working on lower margins currently due to the high demand/low supply).

History suggests in the long term manuals will command a premium so as the OP recommends if you are going to swop you should do sooner than later.

Picked her up today. Wow, what a difference!! feels like it has more power and the delivery is more brutal. Gutted that I’ve wasted 18months in and auto 😂

Nice one and I'm pleased that you are chuffed with it. thumbup

I often wonder what my M4 would be like with the manual gearbox to be honest. I don't dislike the DCT, but you do lose some interaction with the car I think for sure.
