I bought a new cover for the bike and put it on yesterday.

It’s a really solid cover, soft lining, elasticated bottom etc ( not sure if I can name it) but it’s not Oxford. On examining it I was really pleased with the quality.

It chucked it down with rain overnight and when I took the cover off this morning there was condensation on the top box plate, mirrors and instruments.

I ordered a size larger than I should have and I think the bottom may have been on the ground. Would this have caused it or is the cover just no good?

Should I persevere and hope it was a one off because it was new or just cut my losses and return it?

I wouldn't have thought it touching the ground would matter. The cheap JDC cover I have for my 125 is too big for it but keeps it dry.

What I've found with stuff claiming to be water proof is that most of it isn't.

Could be.

I’ve had covers for years , some cheap and some expensive.

Maybe I’ve been lucky but condensation has never reared its head before.

I’ll give it a go a bit longer. It’s only for summer use as the bikes tucked up in my shed otherwise.

Sometimes they use a fabric that shrinks after the first soaking.
Friend bought a patio umbrella that leaked like a sieve when it first rained, great after that.

That said, air circulation is key, so leaving some gap at the bottom is wise. though they usually have some form of vents.
