Tyres for Tiger 800 (Road only)
Discussion
Hi All.
Can I get some recommendations for my 2015 Tiger XRX tyres please?
I currently have pirelli scorpions on there, which I didn't choose, it's what the bike came with. Rear is getting a little squared off now, so time for a change!
I only ever ride on the road. My local place can't source the Michelin Road 5 tyres, which were the ones I wanted, but have recommended anakee adventure tyres. However, I'm not sure these are the tyres for me, mostly as I only ever ride on the road, so only think I want a road tyre, although the place I was going to use to supply and fit have stated that the compound is the same (and still has the hard/soft rubber on the top/sides of the tyres).
Curious what other folks have fitted.
Thanks, Ace

In case you haven't seen it Triumph publish a list of recommended tyres, you can download it from here:

Saying that one of the guys at the ex-Triumph dealer Hughenden M40 used to run Michelin's on his Tiger and swore by them. Not sure they did the proper size for the front though and I can't remember which model they were. So all in all I'm not much help.

interesting, they recommend the anakee too... I guess the only think is that the guide somewhat assumes that because the Tiger is a dual sport bike, that you need a tyre of off-road, so suspect they are discounting all "road only tyres"https://www.triumphmotorcycles.co.uk/services/tyre...

Road 5s are brilliant. Why can’t they get them? Can I get some recommendations for my 2015 Tiger XRX tyres please?

The Anakee adventures are basically Road 5s with a slightly ‘off-roady’ look and a 90/10 tread pattern. Very good, loads of wet and dry grip and decent lifespan. Only downside is slightly noisier than the Road 5s.
I have the Anakee Adventures on my V85TT, I believe they’re a replacement for the Anakee 3 mentioned on the Triumph fitting guide. They’re dual compound and have great wet/dry grip, however they are pretty noisy especially when leant over. I believe the Metzeler Tourance Next mentioned in the Triumph guide are a very well regarded tyre, otherwise there’s options like the Michelin Road 5 Trail (effectively a Road 5 in ‘adventure bike sizes), or the Pirelli Scorpion Trail.
Triumph persist in using Metzeler Tourance Nxts on Tigers of all shapes & sizes which are horrid things (IMO!). The rears square off like a house brick & the fronts give limited confidence.
The stock Tiger 800 fronts are a funny size & so options are more limited. I've run PR4s on them & they were good (but you have to use a slightly off-sized front).
Bridgestone A41s have proven to be a good bet, not as expensive as Road 5s or Roadtec 01s, wear well & seem to give good grip in all conditions. Used them on Tiger 800s, 900s & a 1200 too. BMW have been fitting them on 750 & 1250 GS's from the factory for at least a couple of years.
