It's getting rough out there

Went to the pub in Peterborough last night.... Nothing unusual in that, I've been doing it for years. But, last night was a bit different. The doormen now have metal detectors and you have to empty your pockets and get frisked before going in the pub.
TBH, if they need to go to those lengths, I'm not certain I want to drink in that pub anyway :irked:
I understand why they do it, but if we actually locked a few undesirable individuals up this sort of thing wouldn't be necessary anyway.

Which pub was this Bliar? It's been getting worse in town lately. Gun toting Russian mafia and knife wielding immigrants ahoy!!
Edited to add.....
Worth considering the demographic in our lovely town as well, given last week's happenings. Plenty of racial tensions amongst the chavs, and the lack of intellect to start kicking off about it. An awful lot of feds around the last two weekends as well.

A pub with bouncers would tell me all I need to know about that pub and I`d look for another without
Its the quality of bouncer i think, all the pubs in my town (Basingstoke)have bouncers at the weekend and i really cant say ime at home with them ,they seem to spend more time flexing there muscles and getting off on their own ego's however on recent trips to Manchester and Amsterdam i found the doormen were chatty ,open and relaxed and gave the clubs a more relaxed feel.
The doormen are the 1st impression when you enter a club/pub and the landlords really should choose their staff more carefuly.

I'm so glad I moved to North Yorkshire. Nowt up here but sheep and open roads lad. If tha wants a pint of Theakstons tha'll not be frisked up 'ere.
Absolutely, a nice village pub will do for me any day, a place where people can still behave decently and be pleasant to each other. That's how it always seems to be around here and I value that immensely.
I find pubs in towns and cities completely unappealing.
Best wishes all,
Dave.

Good tune!
Pubs around here are actually don't have anyone on the door, but there are enough suspicious locals around to frisk you verbally if you look shifty.
Bit like when a group of us went for a morning cafe creme into a little bar somewhere in the outskirts of Paris.
Anyway place is surrounded by high rise apartment blocks, afterwards realised we had perhaps chosen the Parisian equivalent of Peckham.

Indeed, what a fine opportunity went begging there. To stand upon the nearest table and cry...

Open roads!!!!!!! Today I started with a 30 minute wait on the A64 for some old geezer who was changing his wheel where the dual track becomes single, then stuck behind an estate car doing 45mph everywhere he went all the way to Whitby. 3 Hours to do 90 miles. Quick fish and chips and an ice cream and on the way back I got stuck behind some woman in a 4 X 4 towing two gee-gees for 20 miles on the A169 from Whitby to Pickering today. Even the wild hoards of bikers couldn't get past. Then the rear end of some guy in a 1963 Humber of some sort entertained me into Malton, then I sat in a traffic jam after two poor bikers, obviously frustated with 4 x 4 lady and Humber man who overtook into the face of a Clio on the A64 and came off second best. Then I had to spend an hour in the designer outlet at York because the angel in the passenger seat woke up.
Next time I take the Lotus and a loaded gun rather than the A2 and a pretty girl.
