Hello

Suggestions please!

£40k to play with, daily driver to be used 160 miles a day on motorways. Preference is a 4x4 but I’m open to suggestions.....

Did think of a Range Rover but £40k seems to be getting me a 5year old one (at best) and I’m unsure of the reliability?

Thanks

Don Roque

An Audi A8, 730d or S Class would be the obvious choice.

Skoda superb/octavia? Believe there both available in 4x4, loaded with tech, take your choice of petrol or diesel.

Did this in a superb, it was epically tiring after the 2nd week. Travelodge on Monday and Wednesday nights were the answer.

Not what you want to hear, but the superb was epic for this sort of thing.

E Class coupe.

If you need 4x4 new shape Touareg is very refined on the motorway and will get 40mpg

Tesla S with autopilot maybe. Low fuel costs, zero tax and it drives itself if you feel brave.

If it has to be an SUV I'd be looking at:

Jaguar F Pace 300 Portfolio, you'll get one with a Jaguar Approved Warranty that you'll be able to extend:

Levante GranLusso Really nice cars & a very good reliable option, for me these feel a bit more special

If not the two above then the 4.2d Cayenne S Platinum Edition would be my pick:

Completely agree but sadly I have quite a tight driveway and no chance an s class is getting through my gates....

Um, how is a Range Rover going to fit on your drive if an S Class won’t fit? It’s even wider!

Diesel engined car with the widest track and wheelbase that will fit on your driveway for a planted feel and stability. Comfy seats with adjustable lumbar support. Decent active cruise control and lane keep assist so you can relax a bit. Automatic gearbox to complement the active cruise control and for traffic jams. Could be any number of cars!

Audi A8. Currently huge value at 2-3 years old.

I can get a Range Rover through bizarrely but an s class no chance. Maybe the s class’ turning is different...

You'll get a well-optioned 530d with a couple of years warranty left for £40k. I'd be prioritising comfort and not visiting the petrol station every couple of days with that commute.
