Anyone done it?

Ultra manly man that I am I was playing netball a week ago with my bro and 6 year old niece and "caught" the ball with my little finger on the right hand.
Pain / swelling followed and inability to move it. Have kept it strapped to the next finger to avoid knocks/use and regularly iced it. Colour and swelling have almost returned to normal now but its still tender on the knuckle and first joint.

I can make a fist without pain

I'm pretty sure the docs would say dont ride a bike, especially with the vibration from a harley!

But.......

I have a pre-wedding photoshoot and on Monday, the wife wants to get some staged with the bike. It's only half an hour's ride so I'm tempted to give it a bash

Yes. I broke both my little fingers at at the same time in a mountain bike accident a couple of years ago. I needed surgery to reconstruct my left little finger as that was smashed pretty badly. I now have very restricted movement in both little fingers, and pain in both, right is better than left.

Getting leather gloves on and off was very painful for a while. I still ride my BMW GS 1200 with manual clutch. My main concern was operating the clutch lever with my left hand, and did consider changing to an Africa Twin with DCT for that reason, but still manage fine with a manual clutch lever, so kept on with the GS.

I generally manage to keep both little fingers out of the way when riding and not put any pressure on them

Do you have your finger still strapped to your next finger, is there a splint? Given it's restricted can you get your gloves on? I'm sure you probably don't wear A-Star GP Pro gloves like me, but the two smallest fingers are stitched together which may or may not help.

Hardest thing may be twisting the throttle and braking at the same time, I'm a 1 or 2 finger braker leaving the last two on the bar, not sure I could cope with only 1 though?

currently strapped with lollipop stick.

I'd remove the strapping and stick, ride normally as I certainly wont be having my finger strapped and splinted for the photos.

I think best bet is take it out for a ride tomorrow and see how it feels

Troy Bayliss mashed a finger in a crash during the first WSB race at Donnington in 2007 and wanted the doctors to cut the remains of it off so he could go back out for race 2.

Toughen up buttercup...

They did chop it off.

Not sure about race 2, but he did win the next weekend.

I remember reading that he had said he was going to miss it because he had been quite attached to it.

On the other hand (see what I did there...?) Jeremy McWilliams lost his ring finger on his left hand and said he wasn't too bothered because he didn't think he would ever need it.

I'm sure Schwantz rode with a broken wrist too.
