My Spanking New Boxster S Arrives This Month....
Discussion
Well. Finally. After all the waiting I get a call today. My new Boxster S should arrive this month.
I don't yet have a trade-in value and Porsche Finance were already on the hunt. Told 'em I'm paying cash and not to bother me until the car is actually DUE!
Still. I am getting somewhat excited now.....in theory I should have the new car in time for Black Tie and Pie. So PH Porschephiles...unless you've had the chance to look around the 2003 Model Year 'S' cross your fingers and hope along with me that it'll be ready in time....
Anyone know someone with a Tamora. I think I want to nick their clutch...

We on the 'other side' are all waiting with baited breath to see if Drivel tell the whole truth about that event on their programme(?) at 8pm tonight.
Do we really think we'll see 2 overcooked Porkers being pushed/towed back to their garage while the Tiv's happily continue racing ?
mmmmmm, lets wait and see.....
Good luck with the new car

Thanks, mate.
Hmmmn. Drivel jolly well should tell the whole truth and nothing but in my view. I know I'll be jolly put out if Porsche don't own up and support new owners should the worst happen. I'm sure they will though...
And TVR deserve the odd break considering the many unfair criticisms they receive. Mind you some of them ARE fair of course...as will Driven be if they point the finger at Porsche tonight and say: "Do better"!
whatever said: Nice one Don! Let's hope it turns up at the appointed date and we all get to have a good look at BTaP.
Thanks, Keith. Yep. I do hope I'll have it there at BTaP. All red and shiny and new. Laaaavely. Can't wait. I'll post my impressions once I've got it. Must remember to photograph both cars together with the same numberplate when I pick it up! Excited? Oh yes...

What colour's yours?
Whoa there! Ooer! etc etc.
I decided that after Lapis Blue last time I needed to be a bit more outrageous...and recall my past. I've gone Guards Red...colour selected to match the old 911 I used to own years ago.
John Prior said: Me too! I'm collecting my new (Midnight Blue) Boxster S next Thursday. I've been waiting for more than 3 months now, so am starting to feel just a little excited. Will be glued to Drivel (for once) tonight. Especially since I've owned 4 different TVRs in the past.
Is yours a MY2003? (I presume so) So....how long ago did you put your deposit down. Mine was down last February. Hmmmnnnnn.
whatever said: Sounds like delivery depends on the dealer's pecking order as much as deposit date. Shocking behaviour!
This is as likely as anything to be honest. Every dealer has its favourite customers. Some of whom buy one or two cars a year...trading them in every six months or so. This can lead to a £500 per month cost of ownership...for very expensive cars indeed as they are sold on at list.
Problem is who wants to be running a car in constantly? I know I certainly don't. So..either my next car goes back in 9 months or so. OR I keep it three to four years I have decided....we'll see.
It depends on whether or not I can be a favourite customer or not!

How long does it take to run in a Boxster these days? I thought I was told only a 1000 miles or so when I asked the dealer this question a few months ago. Only saving grace is that I'm unlikely to have to do it more than once - asuming that Porsche engines don't have a habit of going bang!

Its 1000 miles. Apparently after that you just drive it! Personally I will put mine in for a service anyway. And (as used to be in Porsche's service schedule) a full geometry check up. I will be asking them about that at the PDI as well. My last 'S' geometry was slightly out and it ate a set of tyres in no time....never again.
