I used Richer sounds. Really good to deal with and fully engaged throughout. They get consistently good reviews on pricing and support. 6 year supplier guarantee from them too.

Unless the manufacturer is running a warranty promotion directly (in which case it will be available from all participating dealers, not just RS), then any warranty over and above the manufacturer's normal 12 month guarantee is from RS itself.

RS and John Lewis run their own warranties, and they're consistently the most generous in the retail trade, but you have to remember that these are not insurance backed. In essence, they're taking a gamble that by offering a 'free' warranty that they'll get more in sales and profit than it costs each firm to fix or replace any broken tellies. Also, in the unlikely event that either company closes, your warranty would be null and void.

The full details of the RS warranty is here:

The value of the cover reduces over time.

During year One – full value
During year 2 – Original retail less 20%
During year 3 – Original retail less 30%
During year 4 – Original retail less 40%
During year 5 – Original retail less 50%
During year 6 – Original retail less 60%

When all is said and done you're still better off with either RS or JLP in terms of the lowest cost to buy + their in-house extended warranties than simply buying from A.N. Other web retailer with just the manufacturer's guarantee, but it is important to know what the Terms and Conditions cover.

TPS gets my business after crap service from RS.

Better price, free extras and longer warranty.
