I have a £25,000 budget and looking for a second car so far I have narrowed it down to Jaguar F-type, Bmw M4 or possible a Audi TT RS. Any reason not to buy any of the above or can anyone recommend anything else. My budget may not be enough.

BMW wise , for 25k you wouldn't be sitting in an M4 Competition , that's firmly non comp M4 Cab territory- and there's nothing wrong with that...
But (and don't laugh hehe ) i'd advocate an 435d Cab.. faster , 4wd (so faster than most ,arguably Comp versions too in 75% of UK driving situations) good MPG.
Get a nicely specced example and it really will be a car for all seasons that you can still use when summer is long gone.
No , it's not an M Sport Car , and no it wont pop and brap like an M4 , but they're quick enough , and that 3.0D has a sound all of it's own biggrin.
Worth considering IMHO.

I have no doubt that any of the cars you mention are very capable, but are any of them special enough?
They aren’t exactly rare, don’t turn heads and few people would say “wow” as you drove past.

How about something with a little more theatre, more of an event each time you drove it? A Lotus? A TVR (which I can recommend) ore for an even more hardcore experience, a Caterham.

The BMW 435d that’s crazy performance for a diesel 0-60 in 5.1 certainly a quick enough car for fun.

TVR and Lotus you now need a lot of money to get something tidy which could have been bought for reasonable money a couple of years back. I did have a TVR Chimera 4.0 about 10 years ago which was great fun but I don’t think I could keep up maintaining one now.

A really nice XKR I would buy but seems what I could have bought 6 months ago for £25,000 is now £35000 and I had a 2007 xkr convertible which I loved but would need a good few years newer to be happy in my head.

The SLK 55 AMG is a car I always liked but the reviews have stopped me getting one but certainly worth a second look.

I want to like the offering from Porsche but a 2010 boxter to me looks like a 2004 and you just can’t get something special for my budget.

After looking at a few review last night I am swaying towards the M4 as had an E46 M3 and it was one of the most enjoyable cars I had.

Depends what you want, I bought a 2016 SL400 with the twin turbo v6. Such a nice car do miles in when the sun is out.

Mind I’ve a Morgan, mustang gt and Elise for excitement.

The C6 is a great choice, the Targa is the better option over the convertible:

No one wants a diesel convertible because top down the sound isn’t quiet. Inside insulated it’s fine.

Each to their own I guess, but as a summer car a diesel wouldn’t even be on my list.

If you only had one car and covered lots of work miles mon to fri, I can see that a diesel ‘vert might have a foot in both camps though.

If it’s a one car only then soft top isn’t the best option - Estate yes the do all option.

I've currently got a M4 Coupe and I've also test driven a M4 Convertible...so I can recommend them. I also agree with others though and there are quite a few more sexy cars out there as well.

M4 ticking the boxes at the moment. Not keen to buy anything older than 2010. Would like to be around 2014,15,16.
