God how I hate Motorcyclists at times
Discussion
Why do some motorcyclist feel they need to p8ss off everybody within 1/2 mile with their obnoxiously loud exhausts? Utter, utter *****!
Loud pipes, do not save lives - good riding does that. All they do is unite people against motorcycles and increase their persecution.

If it makes you feel any better I am a keen cyclist, who tends to go out alone, and mid week, and generally keeps out of everyone's way.
I have to listen to all the anti cyclist drivel and do find myself when confronted by 12 lycra clad riders 2 abreast totally understanding why people hate cyclists.
Let it go.
In with the good air, out with the bad.

Strangely I have noticed a lack of load motorbike exhausts this weekend, plenty of bikes but not many load ones. Have they been told to not use the silly noisy pipes or have they just realized their bikes are antisocial? They are still riding way too fast through our village though. Nearly hit one coming round the bend in the village on the wrong side of the road earlier.

Funnily enough, sunny bank holiday in the garden and I've noticed a lot fewer too. MOT changed?I live on a wide road in a busy residential area, between a bend and a set of traffic lights, near the beach so a popular place for people to cruise through. Loud pipes are bloody annoying as a lot of them nail it out of the corner and away from the lights. Doesn't tend to be sports bikes though, someone on a 1 potato per lamp post cruiser thing that must have had straight through pipes was making a hell of a racket last night, however the worst are the little mopeds with crazy loud pipes and riders who have to go everywhere at full throttle.
I have aftermarket Fuel cans which are a bit louder and deeper sounding than the standard cans but hopefully not offensively so.

I couldn't agree more, I'm at work today in one of the busiest spots in the lake district and all you can hear is the incessant blipping of bikes and the occasional blast through first and second gears (its 20mph everywhere), its absolutely t
ttish behaviour and I do hate to be associated with it.
ttish behaviour and I do hate to be associated with it.I live in a nice village in SE England, about 40 yards from a main trunk road with 30 limit. About 100 yards up the road it turns into NSL, where every single bikes gives it the beans! I often go for a fag to enjoy the spectacle. KTM Superduke R with a straight through system was the loudest road pipe I've ever heard. The ground shook!!
Absolutely love the eclectic mix of machines - very rarely happens after dark, or early hours, so I don't consider it as anti-social. My bike? I fitted an Arrow end can, but don't dare take the baffle out as I don't want to f
k off my neighbours when I commute to work at 7am.....
The only loud exhausts that should be banned are the 125cc droning monstrosities.

..and 50cc moped "sports" cans!Although my HD has aftermarket slipons (with baffles still firmly in) I try to be as considerate as possible since I leave for work between 0400-0530 every morning and don't fancy ticking off the neighbours too much!

There are two types comprising the "some motorcyclists" of whom you complain; the middle aged power ranger clad self abusers who ride their bikes at three times the urban speed limit, in first gear in the warm evenings, and the teenaged shelf stackers off to work on their hair dryers at 06.00. Loud pipes, do not save lives - good riding does that. All they do is unite people against motorcycles and increase their persecution.

(Retired biker who got away with it for years.)
When I was a courier in the early 80s we'd fit loud pipes and air horns as safety aids.
And to be honest, modern drivers are so cocooned to the outside world, what with updating FaceAche, touchscreen controls etc, that they need waking up.
But yes the aftermarket pipes fitted to 125cc race lookalikes are irritating and embarrassing.

There is a guy who lives near us with an R1M with an SC Project exhaust - i think - which must be verging on the legal limit and he does tend to ride it....spiritedly....and it's only ever annoying at 7am on the weekend.
Lots of scooters with highly illegal exhausts which is annoying and because we live above an eating establishment, the local Italian scooter afficionados use it as their weekend hangout.
Not a major issue as such except for the fact that all of them feel the need to constantly rev their
tboxesMind you, was at the cost earlier today and some kid on a 125 KTM Duke with an exhaust that rattled windows, that was irritating and the guy on the big suzuki cruiser who had an equally loud exhaust but by the smell of it was overfueling.
Overall, i think it's the scooter riders that are the worst for me, otherwise i just like to watch and see what is coming along but the R1M does sound nice

I own two bikes; a Harley with a 2-into-1 exhaust which is fairly lairy, and a 30-year old Sportsbike which has a standard can and is very quiet.
When I filter with the sportsbike I have to work my way through oblivious cars. With the Harley, they part like the red sea.
Plus the Harley sounds f
king ace and I bought a house nowhere near a road
