Boxster - what does £14k get me?

That’s a very very nice spec of car. Being a 3.2 anecdotally it’s less prone to bore scoring which is a big problem with the later 3.4. It’s also pre March 06 which ducks the £600 road tax. Beware, even the 2.7s are high VED after March up to a point. Sports chrono is rare and desirable, it has “lobster claw” alloys, again sought after and its a nice colour.
If you like it I’d move quickly. That won’t hang around and is fairly priced IMHO. The 987 3.2 was only built for a year or so and whilst not the “headline” 3.4 has several advantages as above.

Thanks, that’s really helpful. Are you able to determine what headlights it has? I know Xenons were optional, what was standard?Sports chrono is rare and desirable, it has “lobster claw” alloys, again sought after and its a nice colour.

As ignorant of Porsche what does sports chrono mean?
Opinions will differ but to me it means an expensive toy you'll play with once, show your mates and then ignore. The sports chrono package involves an additional "sport" settings (sport+ etc) combined with a clock-like display mounted on the centre of the dash. If you have PDK I think it may add launch control as well.
What Porsche say is, "The Sport Chrono Package adds a stopwatch with an analogue and a digital display to the cockpit. The performance display in PCM lets you view a range of driving stats, including your total driving time, current lap distance and lap times recorded so far."

That's a nice one, it won'/shouldn't hang around long with that spec & the advantage of the less bork prone 3.2, the cherry on top is the lower road tax.CoolHands said:

As rockin said. It’s main advantage is adjusting the throttle map so the car feels more responsive. It just changes the rate at which the throttle opens in the initial operation of the accelerator pedal, doesn’t increase power or anything. It’s just a toy but it’s one the market likes. ajap1979 said:

Standard was halogens. I don’t know what lamps it has I’m afraid, but it does have headlamp washers which _may_ mean xenons. Edited by ajap1979 on Monday 31st May 10:37
would hold out for a gen 2 if you can - there was recently one at eporsch with 80k for £14,995 - as others have said, more reliable engines with less 'reported' issues.
If not, buy on condition rather than mileage - low miles isn't always a good thing as things perish - find one with a decent history and evidence of big jobs done; suspension bushes, coolant pipes, condensors, etc - whichever you end up with they are great cars and fun to drive.
Again, recommend Boxa.net as a great repository for helpful owners, help and advice
