I'm not a biker but I've been asked to help sorting some stuff out belonging to an old friend of mine. He had an interest in vintage bikes and was a bit of an inventor.
amongst the stuff I'm trying to identify is this partially dismantled and modified flat twin engine.
Can anyone tell me what it's off please?

Yes, or the Valient which was a normal design of bike but still with shaft drive.

Thanks for that chaps. That makes sense as I know he's previously had more than one old Velocette

In some ways the LE Velocette was ahead of its time. It was laughed at by the Triumph/Norton/BSA boys, but it was horizontally opposed, water-cooled, and shaft-drive. Of course in Police version with leg-shields and panniers it was a bit odd looking.
