Hello all

I'm starting to think about a new car to replace a lease coming to an end and have been looking at various topics on here. I've read that lead times are lengthy at the moment but can't find a good source for up to date info.

Is there a website that collates updated lead times for various manufacturers/models? If not, then perhaps this topic might be useful for people to add specific info to.

Thanks

Mrs ZS has just placed an order for a new MINI JCW hatch. Spoke to the dealer on Friday who said it would be ready by the end of July.

However on Saturday they gave an update of late June/early July as they were able to jump the queue slightly and amend a factory order.

Is the JCW hatch made in Oxford?

Just wondering if that could explain the shorter lead time perhaps compared to other cars? Although many of the components are probably made abroad so perhaps not.

I've tried to order factory three times in the last year or so and have been given dates that were lengthy and / or extended. 6-9 months is not unusual.

Quite possibly... we went on a factory tour a few years ago. I can't remember the exact details, but a lot of components were produced locally.

We looked at a Mercedes EQA last weekend and were told if we factory ordered one now it would probably be December before it arrived.

Something to do with a major shortage of computer chips meaning production has had to slow down significantly.
