I don’t give a monkeys ass.
Why the hell can’t religious leaders just leave people to live their lives? I’ll say it slowly – “I t ’ s o n l y a b o o k .”
Do they honestly believe that this will scare the poor little minds of these cherubs for ever? Will they find the entirety of class 5F wizzing round the classroom on flying carpets watching Taylor and Rooney duelling with wands come Monday roll call?

'Hey kids - remember that fun day you had planned, well the christians say its wrong so we have to have miserable school instead. Now, who wants to go to church on Sunday?'

MMM i can think of a few book's Id ban as they seem to do nothing but incite evil and murder.. How utterly ridiculous!
The parents who complained are no doubt regular worshippers at this vicar's church.
If they're going to ban a Harry Potter day for fear of the children being tempted by evil, do they plan to protest and ban the book as well?
Yet another example of the church and bible belters trying to dictate what we can and can't do. Annoys me....really does!

With Blair leading the country I was under impression UK was well on it's way to becoming the 52nd state (Canada being the 51st).

Go look up the lyrics to the song "Heartland" (www.lyricsfreak.com/t/the,-the/136188.html) by The The (not exactly the world's greatest song but lyrics are quite poignant and very relevant). Who would believe that it was written over 20 years ago. I don't think this has an awful lot to the likes of Blair...and it isn't like me to defend the idiot.
Almost worse than blaming rock bands for some kid's suicide (not just recently, but Judas Priest was put on trial some time in the '80s as well).
What an insult to kids, treating them like they don't have a strong enough sense of identity or understand what's make-believe. What was I thinking, all pretend, is of course, evil.
It's just one way to blame external factors for bad parenting.
Certainly ignores all the relevent points in the books.

If they don't want their kids to take part they can always withdraw them like Jehova's Witness parents do when schools do the birthday and Christmas thing. Instead they spoil it for everyone's child , so they haven't got to explain to their kids why they can't go play, or because they want outr kids to live their lives according to their standards. Does that sound familiar?
Actually what is really annoying is that the rest of the silent minority of parents have allowed a few idiots to spoil their kids fun. A burning lantern lit crocodile of parents arriving at the rectory at midnight might have done the trick. Especially if they had a rope with them. As usual all the good men stood by and did nothing.

As a precaution of this mass evilness, the frogs in the school pond have been relocated for their own protection and the snails were given over 11 months notice to crawl away and hide away. The caretaker has locked the broom cupboard and I have swallowed the key.
We feel we have acted entitly sensibly said the headmaster.
So I told him not to be so silly and promised that if any children did become evil wizards or whitches they would either burned at the stake or dunked in the school pond.
