M Roadster valuation
Discussion
Need to know a ballpark value please people!
BMW Z3 M Roadster
Estoril Blue Metallic, blue / black electrically adjustable & heated seats, power hood in dark blue, wind deflector, BMW cd Tuner, Tracker monitor plus BMW alarm.
1998 R registration, 11,800 miles from new with full main dealer service history and old mot’s to verify mileage.
The car has just had a £1200 service and is kept in a carcoon.
Parkers shows a good private value of £13k with 60k miles, but this has only done 12k.
What do you think?

How do the MOT's verify the mileage?
Because the mileage is written on each MOT. Therefore cross reference that with history and bills and there's your verified mileage.
Sorry you'v got me there, still dont see how this verifies the mileage of the car, i must be missing something here.

Here you go chief:
Genuine Miles:
Mot 1 = 10000
Mot 2 = 20000
Mot 3 = 30000
Mot 4 = 40000
Mot 5 = 50000
and so on....
Dodgy Mileage
Mot 1 = 10000
Mot 2 = 20000
Mot 3 = 30000
Mot 4 = 20000 - Hold on guv... summat wrong here.
No MOTs = something fishy...

Nope still dont see how MOTs are proof of a genuine mileage.

Please do enlighten us then. Other than forged MoT's or persistent clocking of the vehicle over the last 7 years, are you suggesting that there is something we are missing?
HughJay...
IMHO there shouldn't be too great a premium for a 12k car v. a 60k car - assuming the condition of the two is the same. We are talking about a BMW here - 50k here or there is no great shakes.
With the provenance to verify the mileage (YES I do mean old MOTs, Service Invoices etc which are the only real way of verifying the mileage ) then as with all sportscars (rightly or wrongly you choose!) low mileage is always King.
On an M Roadster Glasses guide books the car with an average mileage of around 68k, the lowest figure the mileage adjustment goes down to is 40k which it places a premium of £625 so IMHO such a low mileage ought to add around £1500.
Cars in one of the best colours and providing the condition reflects the mileage then if priced comparitively to what else is one sale the mileage should certainly catch potential buyers eyes and lead hopefully to a quick sale

Its really not that difficult, please do try and keep up. Try and imagine a world where an unscrupulous person could drive there car with the speedo, and hence the odd disconnected, lets say for half a year every year. And they loose 6k-10k miles every half year, and lets say they sold the car 4 years later with 40k miles on it, all MOTs are as they should, all service history is as it should be etc etc... Oh but wait what’s the actual true mileage.... go on take a guess!!!!

Yes it is possible, but you'd need to be pretty smart not to come unstuck!
