Dolby atmos ceiling speakers

Hi all
There is so much conflicting info around i thought i would ask my question on here for the experts
Basically i want a 5.1.2 surround sound system in my lounge. I have the floor up so i can run speaker cables to the 5 and the sub, it the ceiling speakers that are causing me an issue due to the construction of the house - basically i can get the speaker cable down from the ceiling to the amp in any way
I thought maybe i could just get a couple of wireless ceiling speakers for the .2 part as i can access the upstairs floor to put power to them - but I’m seriously struggling to find a set up that would work with this arrangement - any advice appreciated !

The first question is do you really need Atmos? Unfortunately wireless (in-ceiling) speakers don't exist, despite what is marketed ... There is so much conflicting info around i thought i would ask my question on here for the experts

You will definitely need to run cables though. When you say you can't get cables, is there no way you can chase up and then to the desired ceiling location?

Wireless audio repeater on a pre-out on the AVR and a power amp feeding the atmos speakers.
Worthwhile? Possibly not, but if the OP wants atmos it’s an option.

Yes its a possibility but its a janky set up that the OP would possibly only be able to confirm works when its all been purchased and set up. Hiding a power amp somewhere (with power), cabling to the speaker positions from said power amp (in the floor) and relying on a wireless signal from an AVR pre-out to a power amp input on another floor. Wireless audio repeater on a pre-out on the AVR and a power amp feeding the atmos speakers.
Worthwhile? Possibly not, but if the OP wants atmos it’s an option.

Lol thanks all - power to wireless speakers in the ceiling isn’t an issue as i have the floor up in the lounge and the bedroom above it.

WiSA is an interesting product offering, but whatever you use you still need power.
Lithe Audio have just launched their WiSA certified in-ceilings but they are not cheap, there is nothing else wireless on the market.
If you can get speaker cable up the wall, an option that works well is running it around the ceiling in coving or in led lighting profile. Then you can either punch into the ceiling to run within a ceiling joist for in-ceilings or stay in the corners and use something like the SVS Prime Elevations, which are angled bookshelf speakers that can be wall or ceiling mounted.
Depending on budget, in-ceilings are better with angled drivers that point at the main seating position. Look at OSD Black's and I have GoldenEar HRT7000s in my living room system, again pricey, but very good and a ln american hidden gem of a range.

Personally, Atmos is overrated in a living room environment, and I’ve heard/installed about 20 of them.
Too many hard surfaces mean that a 5.1 or 7.1 can sound very similar as the sound is bouncing around all over the place anyway.
In rooms with acoustic treatment it’s worthwhile, especially as you’re only investing in a couple of speakers as your AVR or power amps will already have the capability.
