Audi A1 1.4 vs 1 Series 1.5 M Sport???

Helping a friend of the family who's 24 get a car and it is split between these two, any particular issues, obviously insurance, mpg and reliability are concerns?

Are they looking at New or used?

If used, how old?

The 1.5 B38 from BMW is fairly reliable and has been out a few years now, just a smaller version of the B48.

It’s probably going to come down to which one they prefer visually, which one they prefer to drive and which one they can get spec wise for the budget they have

They have about 15k to spend so looking at circa 2015 car, I think the 1.6 and 1.5 are an option in the one series?

I know little about the Audi I am afraid but the B38 1.5T in the BMW is reliable thus far
