My pregnant wife, is a vegetarian and has recently developed a craving for 'spicy beanburgers'(bless her). So, on Saturday I popped along to the BK at a nearby motorway services. I order her a beanburger and the 'gentleman' behind the counter says,"If it's for a vegetarian I must inform you that our beanburgers do contain animal products". What's that all about? Surely this used to be the Veggie option at these sort of places?
While I was there I thought I might as well try a 'bacon double cheeseburger' since I havent actually indulged in this kind of food since I was a child. After one bite I honestly couldn't contemplate putting any more of it into my system. Inedible plastic shite. :hurl:
The bill with 2x regular (polystyrene) french fries came to nearly £9.00 too. Remarkable value...
I really cannot understand how anyone can go to these places for a 'special treat'. Lord alone knows what McDonalds is like....

I think BK is ok, albeit a bit expensive. What annoys me though is how the price goes up even more for service station ones. At least at McDonalds the price is the same.

Actually I think McD's is much better in terms of quality and value these days than BK.

I saw an undecover documentary a year or so ago on what goes on a a motorway BK behind the scenes.

Let's put it this way - I felt sick and have never eaten there since.

Also, BK at motorway services are ridiculously price inflated. McD's aren't.

I know people slate the Golden Arches, but I much prefer them to BK.

The fact is, the food is all fried in the same oil,or on the same griddle so that's why they say it contains animal products.

McDonalds is far superior to Burger King Lights blue touch paper and stands clear and cheaper as well.

If your wife is craving spicy beanburgers then clearly she has eaten them before - that's why we have canine teeth - to rip through meat Get her a bloody great sirloin steak with the blood running out of it man!

McGrim.....

If you want to experience fast food without the health risks, watch the Film "Super Size Me" highly amusing....

try reading fast food nation, not sure who by at the moment, is in paperback now and is all about how the likes of maccy D's have changed farming and agriculture in the states, and the meat processing plants that work through the meat. very scary

interesting fact, was the smell of the burger is produced in the same chemical research as certain well known brands of perfume. nice huh.

If you must eat BK at a services and lets face it there's more BK's at services these days than McD's then go for a kids club meal! Its only about 2.50, will fill the gap (fries, burger, drink and toy!), annoys the staff when they don't see you with a kiddy and you get a free toy too! Let's face it the next most decent thing up the menu is well over 4 quid. Don't be ripped off!

Doubtless when subjecting my taste buds to their atrocities (not often) I'm travelling to see people who have kids so can pass on the toy. Everyone wins!

I think it was good of the guy to warn you that the burger was not suitable for veggies.

I am shocked it is not suitable though, why not have a separate section for preparing veggie food as they provide quorn or soya burgers too.

To be fair, the bean burgers can be microwaved, and that's what veggies should ask to be done. I believe what usually happens, though, is they are cooked in the same vat of oil used for the chicken & fish. They shouldn't ever be cooked in the same vat of oil for the burgers, but let's be honest, who knows what goes on in the kitchen...

If you saw how battery chickens are reared and the amount of excess fat they have when they are killed you would.

They're not called milk-shakes on account of it being against the trade desciptions act (a "milk-shake" must have a certain minimum amount of milk in it)

Instead of dairy fat they use all sorts of rather worrying chemicals, fats, emulsifiers, hydrogenation/homogenation techniques etc

I only drink the orange juice and that's not that good for you
