Car with 7 registered owners?
Discussion
Agree that the age of car is all important - I'll be honest and say that at the money I'm normally spending on a shed I don't really care how many previous owners there were. But I get a bit twitchy about a car which the current owner has only had for a short while, that would make me ask why they were selling.

It might not be so bad, but it will be a hassle if you come to sell.
Possible owners:
1st - pre reg at dealer
2nd - first actual owner
3rd - traded in at dealer
4th - 2nd actual owner
5th - We Buy Any Car or similar
6th - dealer that bought from WBAC
7th - 3rd actual owner
Other than the pre-reg, dealers do not show as owners as the car is simply 'in trade'. Hence the separate slip on the V5. In your example the car has had 4 owners/keepers.Possible owners:

2nd - first actual owner
3rd - traded in at dealer
4th - 2nd actual owner

7th - 3rd actual owner
There are extremely recently threads with near identical challenges. I think the last one was 5 owners is it too much in 36 months.
So if this is becoming more of a thing in the market - what would drive rolling owners?
Surely to average joe lots of owners in a short time might indicate a difficult issue to solve (or always did)
If it people on furlough off loading cars
If it people made redundant
Is it lots of usernames but one person typing up same questions which sub month duration.

I am looking to buy a golf that I am interested in, mileage is 59,000 miles but has 7 owners. Is this a bad thing, if I’m looking to sell in future
How old is the car, and what value? And how long are you going to keep it?
But seven owners will put off many buyers, especially trade buyers.
I think the amount of owners for used cars is not going to be low anymore due to the amount of lease/pcp deals combined with people changing cars more often.
I rarely keep a car more than 3 years and have gone through 12 cars in 17 years of driving, I get bored easily.
I think gone are the days where most people buy a car and keep it for a decade. Some do sure but many don't so the amount of previous owners is going to be more these days than it was in the past.

Agreed run of them mill car - unless it’s hugely cheaper the. Come resale the next owner will be buying an 8 owner car..... if you have questions now then demand for that will be even less.
If it’s cheap and a good solid car and your going to keep it for a decade / til it dies then that’s great

From your posts over the last few months you seem desperate to get in to a Golf R but the budget seems to be an issue.
If you're planning on buying the car and keeping it long term, I wouldn't be put off by the number of previous owners, following an inspection from a professional to check that there isn't an obvious underlying issue.
If you're wanting to keep it for a year or two then your pool of potential buyers is going to be relatively small as many people do get afraid of c ars with a higher number of previous owners.
As with anything, buy based on the price for what you're getting. If it's £500 cheaper than a 2 owner example, stump up the extra £500. If it's a £3k discount then perhaps it's worth it for you.

If I was buying it would certainly put me off. Then again, I buy new and keep for 10+ years (last was 19 years). There are plenty of golfs around. Keep looking.

MOT failed first time round in Dec 20 here is the rap list. Do not drive until repaired (dangerous defects):
Nearside Front Tyre tread pattern not visible over the whole tread area when minimum depth required is 1.0mm (5.2.3 (e))
Offside Front Tyre tread pattern not visible over the whole tread area when minimum depth required is 1.0mm (5.2.3 (e))
Repair immediately (major defects):
Exhaust carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle exceeds default limits (8.2.1.2 (b))
Exhaust carbon monoxide content at idle exceeds default limits (8.2.1.2 (b))
Front Registration plate does not conform to the specified requirements (0.1 (d))
Rear Registration plate does not conform to the specified requirements (0.1 (d))
That + 7 owners and a proce that isn’t cheap to account for it
Have you done a paid HPI report? Stolen recovered? Maybe twice which may explain number of owners.
But bald yes bald tyres = chav who runs a car to bald tyres and then puts it into an MOT
Who runs dodgy front and rear nuberplates - to avoid speed detection.
Shane that the interior photos aren't included on the website, dealer had some with all other cars but that might just be a mistake. Agree with Welshbeef though, MOT not great for first one (why is a three year old car failing on exhaust emissions?). I think with the amount of previous owners, the high mileage for age and the odd bits like dodgy numberplate and bald tyres, I'd look elsewhere probs.
As always, I'd want details of the 'full service history' if I was interested in spending that much money on something.
