Tesco v Asda

In my local town, Rawtenstall in Lancashire, Asda have dominated the place, since they opened in 1977, almost to the point where they have killed off the old town centre, with many shops being boarded up etc.....

Anyhow, yesterday, a massive Tesco opened less than a mile away, to give them some healthy competition, but Asda have responded by building a gigantic new store, on a new site to replace the current one, which will be twice as big as the current one..........

Also, the local newspaper has been full of advertisments by Asda slagging Tesco's off, and visa versa.....

Obviously good for the consumer, but I reckon it's about time that these megastores, (who don't give one jot for the traditional high street shop), are getting a bit of their own back......

My local Asda seems to have downhill in the last year - busier, more chavvy and things I want missing. Tried Tescos - not cheap. Currently favour Morrisons

Prefer ASDA. I think.

And, I remember getting an artic stuck in the carpark of your local ASDA store a few years ago now after taking a wrong turn. Caused no end of comotion. Nissan Micras aaaaall over the place jostling to get out with worried looking old ladies behind the wheel. Became quite agressive after 5 minutes.

get yer tinned stuff cheapo work clothes and cat litter from Tesco, go to M&S?Sains/Waitrose for decent grub and get fresh meat from a butcher, never buy chicken in a box, it ain't natural, and never, ever buy food from Tesco, it's not fit for pets as is the 'finest' range which is dogfood packed by pikeys in Norfolk

My assessment:
Asda... chav
Tesco... trailer park trash
Morrisons... working class
Sainsburys... middle class
Waitrose/M&S... dead posh!!

My regular shop is at Sainsburys as the food quality is far superior to the Tesco, but if I want some top nosh then I'd head off to Waitrose or M&S.

My local Tesco is open 24 hours, I only ever go there out of absolute desparation in the wee small hours... it makes my skin crawl!

Whilst high ranking politicians have places on the boards of all large supermarkets, the traditional high street shop will be swept aside.

I regret to say this but the people we should trust are motivated by one thing - GREED!

Same here, I shop at Sainsbury mid week but for "Er in doors" when she come up at the weekend I shop M&S.

I don't believe Sainsbury's deserves to be ranked higher than Tesco's.

My local one has still not got around to selling fresh cooked chickens.

You have to keep a close eye on the bread to make sure it's not yesterday's

And it has less choice.

Plus, there's no Waitrose anywhere near, and M&S is in the middle of an anti-car town patrolled by Gestapo traffic wardens so it's impossible to get to, even if I wanted to go there!
