A few years ago, Lotus announced the ELECTRlC LOTUS ELISE. Does anybody know the status of this car? Was the development completely abandoned?

As far as I know it wasn't a Lotus only project it was also by Zytec. There are a few references to it on the net, and indeed pictures of it including the engine. I don't know if it ever made it to production, although it was supposed to be quicker than the standard elise.
