Cost of tyre puncture repair

Thank you All for your messages.
Managed to take it to local garage, who charged me £10. He said there is problem with rim seal as he didn't find a puncture (when placed it in water tub). He mentioned the tyre is old and should be changed (as there were small cracks like lines on side) and quoted £25 for a part worn. But I decided to stick with my tyre as there was a lot of thread left.

My last puncture was (almost) free, called in to the local National Tyres at approx 4.40 on a Saturday afternoon, asked the chap if he could sort it which he did, once he had the wheel back on he looked up and said "don't worry about paying as we have cashed up"
I said thanks and gave him a £10

£30 now. £25 at National Tyres but that was the other side of town, I think they know that there are not as many used tyres available for £25 now.
Leaving the EU has apparently made good used tyres from Germany (their rules on tyres made available good tyres) far to expensive to import.
There were several places in our area that could supply and fit a used tyre with 4mm of tread at least for less then £30 (205 /15). All gone now. Hence increase in repairs from a £10 3 years ago to £30 now, 300% increase, that's some inflation, inflation excuse the pun.

This is what I do too, using the sticky twiglet things.

On a small nail hole it was fine for well over a year until the tyre need replacing for worn tread.
Had a much larger hole late one night the day before we were going to France and wasn't going to be able to get it fixed before we went. Had a go at plugging it and it lasted the 500+ mile journey to our destination. Saved the holiday and I just sourced a new tyre whilst I was there. Always worth carrying the kit in the car!
