F90 Comp LCI Initial Thoughts
Discussion
So, I've had the car a couple of weeks now & covered around 400 miles, so thought it appropriate to pen my initial thoughts.
As a brief background, I've owned many high powered vehicles over the years, including previous generation M5's, Audi RS's, R35 GT-R, a few Superbikes & several 'modified' more track focused cars & my first point is it's truly unbelievable how this F90 piles on the speed to license removal numbers so quickly. The odd traffic light GP is almost hysterical when you're out of sight before the 'other' car has even left the line, it's just so effortless. The downside to this is with a quick blip of the throttle on a clearing motorway, you believe you've accelerated from say 60mph to 80ish, but are in fact well into 3 figures.
Compliance & road holding defy logic/science as the car just grips & grips in all conditions & as the driver I find I bail out well before the car even breaks a sweat.
Haven't started truly exploring the different M settings yet, so the above is based on Efficient/Comfort/Comfort, so God only knows what she'll do post RIS when full boost's available & my bravery/confidence has increased. She'll be doing several track days this year which will give me the opportunity to explore her limits in a safer environment.
Lastly the toys & gadgets are just giggle inducing. Never have I owned a car with so many luxury/safety/Tech features, so this is still taking some time to get to grips with, but even after just 2 weeks, I can safely say I'm not only in awe of this car, but am also falling in love & very few cars have given me that feeling over 30yrs of driving.

Good to hear. You might have seen this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFrrjGDm4X0 - while it's sponsored it does sound quite genuine.

Watched the series (think it was 4 circuits) & it's really whet my appetite for her first outing on track (Blyton) in a couple of weeks, however it's Spa later in the year where i think she'll excel.w8pmc said:

I can imagine that the run up the Kemmel straight may be epic. Lucky you, I am not doing overseas track days this year but hopefully next year if/when everything is "normal". Great to hear your feedback - I've had my car for a few weeks longer - totally concur....was worried about the muted exhaust sound....but then discovered the M settings and once warmed up, the exhaust noise was better.
I agree, the power range is unbelievable - I can't wait to start driving to the office - although will need to watch how quickly the speed piles on....as you mention.
I've had one warranty visit - the M badge peeling off the front grille - an entirely new grille installed.

Hi W8pmc, how are you getting on with the car?, I have a new one on Order with "Ultimate", what do you think of the rear entertainment system?, thanks John
Hi John, safe to say I absolutely love the car. Really can’t think of anything that’s so OOTB rapid, whilst retaining such composure when just needing to drive/commute. It really is exceptional at both.Nice one & looking forward to seeing some piccies when your new one arrives. Is it being built to order or have you found a car in stock?
The RSE hasn’t been used in anger as haven’t had the family out for any journey where it got switched on, but have set it up so had a play & it’s very good. You have several USB-C inputs in the rear centre console along with HDMI so it’ll take the obvious USB sticks loaded with films/tv/music videos but you can also connect up a Nintendo Switch or the like. I managed to get BMW to supply the newest version of their OEM headsets as the car for some reason doesn’t come with these as standard now I believe.

Crikey JMBMWM5 you change your M5 more than most do their underwear

Last post took words out of my mouth JMBMWM5, how many M5s and M6GCPs have you been through in last 10 years! I bet you’ve got the cs order in even as the LCI model is delivered.
Just thought I’d say I do have the rear screens in my car, look great when they’re on and good functionality, my two teenage sons basically use them to watch dvds on long journeys, not really bothered about watching the sat nav or the cars notifications for example which you can also bring up. No complaints from them. I have found them quite complex and glitchy, the Bluetooth for the two wireless headphones that come with them don’t always behave such that they pair with their own designated screen to allow rear occupants to listen to separate media sources c/w the driver, also it can be quite complex to work the media sources from the front I drive screen when you want the radio on and different media sources are being listened to on each rear screen; I often find myself listening to a movie soundtrack! They seem to be able to control the whole cars media from the back. Have to keep turning round and tell them to select media source just for their own headphones and they claim they can’t work it out. Also I’ve just never been able to work out the process of screen mirroring from devices to the rear screens, apparently you can do it but working it out and coordinating the device with the cars own wifi network and the rear screen output vs the front I drive screen seems impossible to me.
On a positive when I’ve had one of my sons in the front and two of his mates in the rear at night with the screens on and the mood lighting and the car at full blast all I can say is they get out well impressed and saying to my son how cool his dads car is. Can’t ask for more than that!

All the justification you need for an over powered saloonEdited by msdes123 on Thursday 24th June 21:13

BTW great exponential car history and the F12 is ambition for me, nicer looking than its successor, the 812 just looks heavy round the arse

I haven't owned a V12 yet!

Be very persistent on that point, the rear headphones are absolutely part of the rear entertainment pack, was absolutely aware of this from prior research and documentation I had but when the car was delivered there were no headphones and the dealer was insisting they were not included and you had to buy them separately (they’re not cheap). Needless to say after several to and fro emails and me throwing toys out of pram they suddenly agreed they were included!
Not that it mattered, as I said above very glitchy with the Bluetooth and my kids just defaulted to a set of plugged in wired headsets. Also my car had to be at the dealers 2 whole extra days as no one there could work out how to get the wireless headphones separate Bluetooth signals accepted by the car and showing up on the rear screens as paired devices etc.. hope you have better luck with them than me.

I didn't have any issue pairing the BT headphones independently to the rear screens. Just added as a new device to each rear screen & they both connect perfectly. That said, only tried them a couple of times so no doubt the connection could get lost at some point. On the main Device menu, both headsets are displayed as paired devices, but in the rear, each is connected to their specific screen.

Great point as was the same with my RSE. No headphones when i collected the car, but after a few calls they ordered them & i collected them a few weeks ago.
