I'm gettting sligthly fed up of fixing punctures on my boy's bike. We live in the sticks and it's just tiny thorns each time.
Some sort of sealant into the tube seems wise but they are just ordinary vlaves not tubeless or with removable cores.
So can I get an adapter that works or do I need new inner tubes?

ETA wrong section - mods to pedal power please.

Solid Tyres? (AKA puncture proof ones)

On most standard low pressure tyre valves the core can be easily removed to allow pumping them full of gunk. At least that was the case about 25 years ago when as a kid I used to fill all my bike tyres to stop this sorta stuff.

Yes, the sealant goes into a 'normal ' valve. I did it some time ago on a MTB, let the tyre down, force the sealant in then partially inflate and spin the tyre to ensure the sealant is spread around the inner tube equally, then inflate up to normal pressure.

Or you can buy the inner tubes with sealant already in it;

Ah ok. Do they come with an adapter I wonder.

Yeah it was a little while ago but I think the sealant bottle screwed on to the valve you then squeeze the bottle to push the sealant into the tube. Obviously its not under pressure but then it doesn't need to be, as long as it gets in pass the valve inflating the tyre an spinning it spreads it around.

Edit - you remove the valve core with the supplied tool

Thanks. I assumed (wrongly) that valves with removable cores would not be the bog standard things on kids bikes but, at least ours, are. So that solves that. Slime has arrived so a job for the weekend. Also waiting for some 18 gauge blunt needles to add it to a range of footballs too.
Thanks all
